Do children still get chicken Pox and mumps now, or are there vaccines for these diseases? I think the only one I had as a child was the measles. My son had the chicken pox and mumps. Stupid me, someone told me in order to see if he really had the mumps was to give him a pickle. I gave him the pickle and he really puckered up. I immediately took him to the doctor's. He actually had the mumps on one side of his throat. Did any of you have any of these childhood diseases?

You know my daughter just got over the chicken pox about two weeks ago. I opted for her not to get the vaccine when she was young. I feel bad that I did not but I felt that I had them and so did all my brothers. To me a vaccine is not fool proof. My other daughter did not get the vaccine either and she did not even get them. Now my children did have all other vaccines but the chicken pox was the only one they did not. I guess it was a personal choice. But to be honest my daughter only had them for about a week and now her body has its own immunity and to me that is a lot safer than a vaccine. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

How old is your daughter? I'm glad it was only a week your daughter had to suffer. My son got the chicken pox a week after school ended for summer break. He had them everywhere. We actually went to the beach about two weeks into them, and would you believe the salt water helped tremendously.

still didn't experience this kind of diseases and i don't wish that i will experience this because i'm already a grown up..if i'll gonna experience then this would cause trouble for me..because i'm no longer a child..scars will remain..it wont heal normally..

I had chicken pox when I was a kid. I think I was like 2. Neither of my kids have had any of them. I think they got vaccinations for all of them. Well, I know measles and mumps. I think they got one for chicken pox too though.

I already had mumps and measles but not chicken pox. I had my 1st shot of vaccine for Chicken pox and I'm having my 2nd and last at the end of this month. It's actually better that your son got chicken pox and mumps earlier so he won't get it in the later years.

I only had one of those childhood diseases...here's the story. My brother is 4 years older than me. It seemed everyone in his 4th grade class was coming down the the chicken pox. It was his turn I guess. So he was home and I was only 5 and my mom in her parenting wisdom decided that this would be the opportune moment for me to come down with the "pox". So, I became her little helper not knowing I was being set up. Your brother doesn't feel good, go bring him a soda. Your brother is sick go and play a game with him. Your brother doesn't feel good.... Well, you get the idea. So, of course I caught the "pox". It was no fun.
