So how many of you appreciate the small things in life? Sometimes i find it really easy to sit back and enjoy the littlest things like a bird feeding from our bird feeder, or a waking up to a sweet kiss from someone i love. Or watching children playing, petting a puppy lol. However there are other times when life gets the best of me and i find it impossible to appreciate the small things, in fact i dont even notice them. I try to delibrately remind myself about all the good things sometimes it works, other times not so well. What about all you are you able to appreciate all the little things life has to offer, or just too worried and stressed to even notice them. Are you jelous of those people you meet you live life freely as if they dont have a care in the world?

I do now, I think appreciating the small things in life comes with age, you have been there done that, and realize life is so short, and that we can't take anything with us so we better appreciating the small things in our kives and take time to enjoy.

I absolutly agree with you, i am not very old yet only 22. But I am already noticing that to be so true. Maybe because my son is already going to be turning 7, and we have a rough past years with deaths in the family, and just crappy situations, that I have already started to learn that I have to appreciate the small things. I hope as I age this becomes easier, because it makes life so much happier!

I absolutely agree as well that appreciating the small things in life comes with age or with a drastic event that may change ones life. While we are young and healthy, there are so many things we take for granted. But once something happens to change what we could once do, we very quickly learn to appreciate the good days we have and the simple things that make it happy.

Yes, I think they are the most precious things in life. I dont want to try to keep up with the jones's.. or try to out do myself or get in over my head, I just want a simple life that has more meaning to it...I have a small house, a car that is paid for, my hubby and a son and a daughter... they of course want to get a pet soon, but that is another story..LOL, I just want a clean house first...LMAO, so yes I enjoy the small things in life more than anything!!

I'm reminded of the small things everyday. When my squirrel comes down to get the peanuts I put out for him, or the bluejay that seems to think I put them out for him. lol I love waking up, going down for coffee, and looking out on a quiet, snowy morning. I have always placed my desk by a window. After all it is the small things that matter most.

With out the small, simple pleasures the big life garbage would over take us. I try to take a minute each day to list at least 5 small or big things that need a bit of appreciation. If you do that, then the hugs things don't over take. It only takes a cup of coffee (or tea in my case) I'm not jealous of those people who don't ACT like they have a care in the world. I try to appreciate them. After all isn't my goal to be like them. I'm sure they carry their own troubles but they just package them better.

I have never looked at it that way, maybe that is one of the small things i should start appreciating, and instead of being jelous of them, take a lesson from them, and also try to be more carefree. Thank you for responding and pointing that out to me sometimes hearing other peoples points of views helps put things into perspective!

I truly do enjoy the little things. I love to read or play with my dogs. Having my daughter play her guitar. I would be content to do this all day!

Small things do count more. It's up for us to embrace those small things. I always appreciate those kisses, hugs, laughters, "i love you" and many other things given by my loved ones. As I get older, I learn to be more appreciative of the things that come. Happy mylotting.

Hi kayla, I appreciate any little luxury that life throws my way. Sometimes worry and stress do get deter my decision making, but never for long. Appreciating the simple things in life enables us to rely less on material crutches. Thanks for the topic!

I once lamented to a close friend, in the middle of a stressful, disastrous part of my personal life, that "life is so complicated".. he replied, "Life is as complicated as you make it." There's some truth to that. Since then I've been able to make a pretty uncomplicated life for myself, which gives me time to relax and appreciate the small things in life. Keep it simple, that's the key.

I think I take more pleasure from the simple things in life than the big things! A really good cup of tea, watching animals and birds, a small remark that makes me chuckle - the list is endless.

i am an art appreciator, especially photography. And i guess with photography i learned how to search for details of things, like for example nature photography.I just don't want the bigger picture everyone sees,i want something in particular that caught my attention. So with photography i became much more aware of the beauty of things. That's one of the things i like about Japanese culture, they go so much into the importance of small things. And i think,in my personal opinion that is sad not to be thankful to those small beautiful things we have in our lives, but it's not like it's those people fault, since they don't even notice...got to keep those eyes open! There's so many beautiful things out there, just be aware...

Do i feel so calm whenever i see water flowing, when i hear birds chirping, when i smell freshly cut grass? When i see trees lined up on the highway, the sun rising on the mountain, the moon setting on the sea, the clouds forming shapes, the rainbow after the rain? The neighbor's toddler dancing, stray cats eating on my frontyard? My husband washing the dishes, hanging the clothes i washed, hugging me so tight and kissing me all over my face as he whispers "i love you"? Oh, am i being so melodramatic? I am not. I'm just being forever grateful God picked me up from the mess i was in and given me a new life...such a beautiful life...

I appreciate small things everyday.. though i really think I should appreciate more small things from now on.. like waking up every morning and noticing youre alive instead of telling yourself "Gah.. another day at work. in the friggin morning".. that's just wrong. One small thing i always enjoy is breathing deeply.. it has a unique relaxing effect. totally love it. You guys should always breed deep too. Happpy my lotting:)
