You're one of the Oceanic Six - would you have lied? WHY??

I recently watched the season 4 finale, the recap eps, the season 5 premiere, and two following eps. I am all caught up and salivating for the next! One question - if you were one of the six - Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sun, Sayid... Aaron (but he doesn't count) WOULD you have lied? I was yelling at the tv, there is no point in lying. For me I wouldn't CARE if people didn't believe me. I don't need people to believe me to make it REAL, to make it what happened. As far as the fear about the safety of the people on the island who were left, what is that all about? The island moved, disappeared. I really wouldn't be concerned about their safety as far as being found by the outside world. I WOULD however be concerned about all the jumps in time because of how it seems to be affecting some of the people - seizures, headaches, dizziness, nosebleeds. Anyway, I would NOT have lied. I would have said what happened to me - OR I might have not said anything. Refusing to comment is NOT the same as 'making up a story'. I would never have made up a story. I also would have gotten back to my life and tried to forget about it. I would probably want to stay in touch with my friends and I would probably try to stay in touch with them, and if anything weird started happening I would recruit some sort of protection or security. I likely would NOT fly any more, and I also would NEVER consider going back. EVER. Under any circumstances. What would you do?

I would have let the others talk and kept my own mouth shut. Then I would have written a book about and gotten rich off the options to make it into a tv series! ROFL

That's an attractive option too, glad you thought of it. I would however have to neither encourage nor discourage the story or stories the others told. I'd probably play it off as if it were some sort of parallel or alternate universe, even to a dolt that would make some sort of sense, especially considering the crash site at the bottom of the ocean they found flight 815 in.

A writer never sabotages a good story! LOL

I would say yes, because they are lying to protect the other people on the island and themselves. Charles Whidmore would likely try to kill them and go back to trying to find the island if he knew there we others still alive.

Ah but Widmore can't even find the island himself. The people he hired found it by accident - they'd been looking for Ben for awhile. Now that Ben moved it and reappeared back in the 'real world', isn't that rather convenient? Besides, I wouldn't necessarily infer there were others alive on the island, only that I crash landed on it and lived on it for something like 3 months and it took a hell of a lot of trouble to get off it!
