How many of the settings on your washing machine do you use?

My washing machine which is about 6 years old, has lots of different settings on it, but I only use about 3 of them. I mainly use a 40degree wash, an economy wash (which is very quick) and a delicates wash for woolens. I often look at the other settings and wonder what I could possibly use them for. Do other people use all the different setings?

I only use the regular wash setting and I don't even think about the other settings. My washer is twenty years old, so I don't even think any of the other settings would really do anything different anyway.

It does make you wonder why they have so many settings doesn't it?

I totally agree . I have used automatic washers for many years and they have all had 8 to 12 cycles , I only ever use 5 at the most , normal , heavily soiled , woolens , seperate spin and seperate rinse. Why oh why don't they make a machine with less cycles. ANSWER : Because the more complicated it is the more expensive it is. Thought for the day : The first manufacturer to to make a 5 cycle machine would make us ladies very happy but more important (for them ),they would make an absolute killing in the market. ARE YOU ALL LISTENING?

I think also, the more complicated machines are made, the more things that can go wrong with them.

I was taught to use delicate cycle for linens, and normal for everything else. Of course I don't know about really dressy items. I've used cold cold, and / or hot cold before and I think even warm cold. There's a few settings on the washer I use, it's not mine as my fiance and I live with his parents. When we get our own washer I don't see that much will change with the way we wash our clothes.

I thought you were supposed to use a hot wash for linens! I use normal for most things except woolens.

My washing machine is very basic and it still has a lot of options I never use. I just need to be able to choose temperature, load size and how long I want it to run. I almost always have it set on cool medium load on a regular wash.

I use the fasted setting every time I wash clothes. I choose either 30 degrees or 40 degrees depending on the clothes I am washing. I am careful to have a colors wash and then a whites wash. I look at my washing machine and see so many settings that I just wouldn't need to use.

My washer has 6 cycles. I wash alot of our everyday clothes on just quick/normal. My child's school clothes, and chruch clothes get washed on permanent press because it keeps them from fading as much, and less wrinkles. My husband's work clothes, I wash on heavy because they are soiled with smell from the place he works. And then I use the delicates for my nighties, panties and panty hose, or other items that need that extra care with out having to hand wash them.
