Where would you want to live if you could pick anywhere? And why?

I was born in Italy and moved to Australia when I was 10. A lot of people at the time thought my parents were crazy for moving so far away. Nowadays, as an adult with my own family I am so thankful of my parents' decision as I consider Australia the best place in the world and I would not want to live anywhere else. How about you? Are you happy where you live or would like to reside elsewhere? Where would you want to live if you could pick anywhere? And why?

I am a Indian by birth. And you know what? There is hardly anyone who disrespects his/her own mother land. If I choose any other's mother only because that my mother is not beautiful to look at and not smart enough to compete with others, would not the world laugh at me? Besides I follow the saying in Sanskrit - "Janani, Janmabhumi swargadapi Gariyashi" that connots -" mother and motherland both are far superior to heave". This is why I would not pick any other place even if I were paid a million dollar for this. The only thing I love my mother, and I love my motherland that fed me and helped me grow to this time as I am replying to your topic. thanks.

Thank you very much that you appreciated my response. People have different notion regarding this very issue. This is not my rigidity or a sign of boasting but I feel if we do not love our own country how would we prosper and progress? For anything you wish to better you must have true love towards it. I have not spoken too much I hope.

I was born in country of China, and moved to big city when I finished school in university. I like country thought the big city is well-ful, rich, convenient and in work. I like to live with my family, father, mother, and sister, of course, my wife. But my wife has her family, father and mother, I have my job and friends in city. I cann't be back to country and live there.

You are obviously more content in the city and that's great; that you are happy where you are at!

I agree Australia is a great place to live. However I've lived in Thailand for ten years and loved it also. You have to make the most of what you have. All places have plusses and minuses.

That is true. I stayed in Thailand for a few months when I was travelling. We spent half the time on Koh Phi Phi and the rest in Samui. I found Bangkok too smoggy but I enjoyed the shopping! Thanks for the response!

Hello paula27661! I live and born here in the Philippines dor 22 years and now I got married. If I coud pick one place where I want to live right now, it would be in Florida. My husband is there now and we are still applying for a visa for me to go there. That's what I am really hoping at this moment.

Hello, I have never been to Australia. I live in the Seattle Washington area, about 16 minutes away driving time.I love this area. Mountains are close by,the Pacific ocean is close by. I consider it the best place, at least for me. The weather is not too hot and rarely get snow(tho this winter we got heavy snow fall) during the winter unless you go to the mountains which is about an hour away. it really doesn't rain as much as people are led to believe, we get less rainfall than New York City per year.I heard New Zeland is beautiful and has nice weather.I would like to see it.

I have never been to New Zealand; my sister in law lived there for a while and she liked it, beautiful countryside apparently. Where you live sounds lovely too. Isn’t it great to be happy where you are? Thanks for a great response! [

Right now I'd choose to live in Tokyo. Haha. I don't know Japanese or anything, but right now I'm into the whole Japanese modern culture. I'd like to at least take a vacation there someday.

i would probably stay in america, although i like Japan, i don't know if i could live there. I'd be a real toss up between Hawaii and California, my 2 homes. since i grew up in hawaii but i live in cali now because its just bigger and connected to land..haha. but the laid back, nice calm feel is always nice.

Either Michigan on the water or Ireland. I love the look of Ireland with it's castles. I also miss the water in Michigan...I'd love to move back there. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

At the moment I live just 22 miles outside of London in the UK I have to say that I have never been very happy living here even thou I have been here all my life. There is two places that I would like to live one would be Ireland as that is where my partner was born and bred. He still has a lot of family there. My youngest son was also born there. It has the most wonderful scenery and the people are very friendly. The other place would be the Isle of Wight it is a small island at the bottom of England. I have been there on holiday about 5 times now and am going back again this year. I have always had a sense of belonging there when I am visiting the island. It also has lovely sandy beaches as well.

I've never been anywhere else in my life except here in Philippines. I really do wish to live in New Zealand or Georgia US if only I could. Oh well, luck isn't much on my side. I think New Zealand would be a great place to race a family. It's civilation is not too crowded and most of all the scenery is just so peaceful. They still have so many untouched lands their that are just beautiful and breathtaking. I've browsed on the net some of the NZ places. Why Georgia USA, my mother in-law has been leaving there for that past 7 years, she's alone so we want to go there and be with her. And an even more appealing thing about it is, she's leaving far from the city so I think that's just wonderful.

Right now I live in the suburbs, which is a very nice, comfortable place to live. It's alright living here but if I had the choice I would much rather live in a city. To me the city would be much more fun. More people to see, more places to go. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of cities and I would enjoy living there. For a long time I had always wanted to live in New York City because my mother grew up there, but now they are saying NYC is losing its swagger. i have heard that places like Seattle are becoming much more trendy cities to live in.

I currently live in the U.S. Ohio. I love it. The summers are hot, the winters are cold. Makes for a great place to live really. Having a constant climate all year would drive me insane, not to mention I love right by Lake Erie.

I would like to live somewhere in Europe.... I would like to try England or Ireland for certain though there's so much beauty in Europe I suppose I would have to tour Europe before I would make such a dramatic decision.... Provided hubby would even get on a plane *LOL* Otherwise I would like to check out New Zealand (seems popular on other posts as well). I used to have a pen pal there when I was a tween (late 80's) and she would send me pictures of where she lived, the beaches and how things were all within an hours reach like going skiing, then travel a few hours you are in the countryside, and a lil further back to the beach. Plus it's probably warmer there than here & hopefully a cheaper cost of living ;)

I am living in india. I have tried many times to settle in singapore never happened. When we had a decision to migrate into australia that plan also droped because of the money investment problem during 1980s. Now I am married and settled in india. I don't know where I could be if that plan went successful. Now I am recalling that after reading your discussion.
