I like Laura Lippman's Tess Monoghan detective series. She also has some very readable books that are not in the series.

I heard that Charlene Harris had some good series out. BUt I for one LOVE James Patterson. His Alex Cross novels are amazing (kiss the girls, four blind mice, cross, double crossed, cross country and a whole lot more).

Hi frenchcountry. One of the series I loved were those written by Barbara Taylor Bradford. It started with "A Woman of Substance" followed by To Be the Best, Hold the Dream, Emma's Secret and Unexpected Blessings. It's a nice story that spanned generations and involved the dramas and intrigues that wealthy families seem to have in common with each other. Hope this helps!
