I am very saddened by the damage done by the bush fires in Melbourne, Australia as it has affected the nation. The suspected death toll is up to 230, which 181 confirmed dead and 50 missing, presumed dead. From the latest news report (http://www.guardian.co.uk/weather/2009/feb/10/australia-bushfires-death-toll-arson-hunt): A tent city has been established for the 7,000 people left homeless. About 4,000 firefighters were still battling 33 blazes in Victoria and New South Wales. At least 12 communities north of Melbourne were on high alert, with authorities fearful that strong southery winds might fan the flames. What are your thoughts?

I am from melbourne and its terrible. On the really hot humid days the air is so smokey for miles its terrible. i feel so sorry for the familys and i went down to the bank yesterday and donated a little. Last night in north east of victoria another fire has been deliberately lit so hopefully that doesnt get out of hand too. I hope they catch the people starting all of these fires, and as for the natural ones i hope they are all under control before any more family lives are destroyed

Are you close to the fires or are you more in the city? I'd love to donate but at the moment I only have 80c in my bank account :( My auntie also lives down that way and she says its horrible. The arsonists deserve to be held accountable for all the deaths they have caused and charged thusly.
