Arne Duncan, child abuser, for Education Secretary?!

What in the world is wrong with this new government?! Here is the link to the article: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2183296/posts Here are a few excerpts: "The 2 Investigators found reports of students beaten with broomsticks, whipped with belts, yard sticks, struck with staplers, choked, stomped on and pushed down stairs. One substitute teacher even fractured a student's neck. But even more alarming, in the vast majority of cases, teachers found guilty were only given a slap on the wrist." ""Any founded allegation where an adult is hitting a child, hitting a student - they're going to be gone," Duncan said. But that's not what happened under Duncan's watch. Of the 568 verified cases, only 24 led to termination. Records show one teacher who quote "battered students for several years" was simply given a "warning" by the Board of Education." So we've had 3 tax cheats, one of which was confirmed and now we get a child abuser for our Secretary of Education. What is wrong with this administration? Don't they check out a person before they nominate him or do they just not care?

I don't get it. Doesn't anyone check out who the president nominates? I know he's in a hurry to get things done but this is ridiculous.

Hmm... it seems you are picking on teachers :) On a serious note its sad to hear that educators have abused of children in such harsh way. i hope that the administration is vigilant enough to curb such abuses.

I do agree with you. People who should be in the cabinet should set an example for others.

You know that in every profession there are abusers. I have the highest respect for teachers. But, just like policemen and every other profession that has authority over others, there will be people attracted to it who abuse those who depend on them. Our president seems to be blindly picking people for his cabinet without checking them out, just like pulling names from a hat! Only the hat is filled with tax dodgers and child abusers.

I don't know why it hasn't been a national scandal. If a teacher mistreated my child like that I would be raising hell and the whole country would know! One child even had to go to the emergency room with contusions on his poor little back. I think I would be in jail for murder if someone did that to my child. I do not think that man is fit to be Secretary of Education!

It's sad indeed, especially when we have a president that seems to just pull names out of a hat without thoroughly checking them out. Sadder still when a self-admitted tax cheat can be secretary of the treasury!

Oh this (and other reasons) is why I homeschool. Not only to save my children from horrible people like this....but also to keep me out of jail because I would not have pressed charges against the teacher. I would not have called social services. I would have paid that teacher a personal visit...with a baseball bat. You don't touch my kids. Heck you do not even raise your voice to my kids. They are my children and if they need correcting for their behavior I will do it. What is it with teachers today? They are either beating them or having $ex with them. Everything but actually teaching them. You just can't trust anyone with your kids now a days.

I admire people who can homeschool their children and the children are so far ahead of the public school unfortunates! As it was, I supplemented my kids' education because they weren't taught all I thought they should be. Yes, there are weird people, sick people even, teaching our kids nowadays. And it's not just that we hear about it more, I don't think teachers ever abused children like they do today! Keep up the good work with your children!

i dont know where you live , its not acceptable here in ny . you cant even swat your own kids today . years ago when i was a kid ingrammar school, we had a teacher who walked with a cane , she swatted you when she had to as well. if you went home and complained , the anwser was you probably deserved it
