does TAGGING a discussion really help?

each time i post a discussoin im confronted by this irritating screen which asks me to tag my response. at first it was ok but its really starting to annoy me.... does it really help if one taggs a discussion? i guess it makes for easier searches and thats good if ur starting a discussion... lately ive stopped tagging my responses... do u tag em?
