I have noticed several military people on here. and wondering if in the Early 80's if anyone has been there. You dont have to be x military to answer, as I know there were civililan persosnnal down there also, I know other countries had outposts down there also. If you have visited please reply, and you can replay even if you have not been there.

well the only scenery I saw when I was there was nothing but white, you might say the same thing looking in a desert nothing but sand and mountains in the back ground. as for a cruise. you would never set foot on the continant. unless you went down on an ice breaker or were a scientest doing studies there

I've never really been there, but I assume its probaly really cold. If i went there it would be cool to see like wild polar bears, and ice fish. I think if i had the chance I would do it once. It would be crazy to live in a ice igloo though. I don't know if I could do it.

Yes it is cold, but not durring the summer down there. There is 24 hour daylight. and it does get to about 50 degrees which is shorts weather after you have been in the sub 0 weather. There are no polar bears (that is the nort pole) Ice fishing is a little hard as you have to go through about 2 to 3 feet of ice before you can fish. the only animals I saw down in Antartica was Penguins, Seals, and a bird like a sea gull. but it wasnt a sea gull
