Do a lot of people die from anorexia?

I know in the past it use to be a huge problem and yes many would die from it. However, I am not sure if it still as big of a problem or if it is and it's just not as talked about as much as it use to be. I personally blame anorexia on models and what society protrays what people should look like to be liked. Jessica simpson for example...People keep commenting or should I say critisizing her weight that if she wasn't such a strong soul that could easily lead to an eating disorder.
