i wouldn't call it punishment at all. i'd rather think of it as a beautiful medium of a precious and wonderful gift. hail all women who have given birth! hail all who are carrying god's gift in their womb with love and joy!

To me it is a gift from god not a punishment. children are a gift from god and 9 months is not that long to wait for that wonderful gift

Irregardless of what the bible may say is the reasoning behind pregnancy taking 9 months, I don't see it as being that great a burden to bear or that painful a "punishment". To view pregnancy as a punishment is just ridiculous. Think of the number of women who can have children. I don't think they would view it as punishment. Not to mention that casts the wrong light on the product of the pregnancy, a beautiful child with all the innocence and potential for greatness in the world. I honestly believe the real meaning of that statement was lost in translation somewhere along the line.

Typo - it should read "think of the number of women who can't have children".

First thing it is not punishment it is a gift as God wanted women to feel like God themselves so they were give the power to feel the new creation inside them.

No He didn't. But, because of Eve, He said that we would labor in pain to give birth.
