I only ask because I notice book discussions do not do very well here and that is a shame. I love to read and would love to discuss the books I have read lately with someone.

I'm a die hard reader in that I start a new book as soon as I finish one. But I don't read very fast though. I'd love to discuss books with you. Don't know if what I read is what you're into or not. I read history and pretty much anything else that is educational. I also read an occasional novel.

I currently read a lot of christian fiction, but I also loved Rich Dad Poor Dad, Think Big, and You are Broke Because you Want to be. What book left the most lasting impression on you?

I love to read. In fact, I read all the time. My current addiction is Paranormal Romance or PNR novels. However, I have long abandoned mylot as the place to discuss books. Maybe because not that many either shares my love of reading or interests in the same books that I like. To get my share of book discussions, I hangout at goodreads.com, where I find fellow readers who share the same passion as I do. I'm virtually addicted to that site, because if I'm not reading, I'm usually on there, just talking about books.

I am going to check that site out. Maybe we will meet up there?

Who has time to read? I read the closed caption on my tv, does that count? So, what good literati have you read, magazines stories about a pregnant (wo)man do not count.

Ted Dekker baby! He is the bomb. And who is reading about pregnant anything? Not me! I had enough of that subject along time ago. How you been? Is it time to move again and are yall still going to California?

I read Three by him, I'd like to start the Black, White, Red circle too, I'm just so busy with writing. We are looking at California, we are leaving OK at the first of March.

I'm a die hard reader but I've noticed the same thing as well. I suppose that it might be because reading interests are so diverse. I love to read mystery novels but got hooked on the books of Luanne Rice a few years ago. She writes relationship novels. My appreciation of her work taught me that sometimes it's good to branch out. You never know when you'll find a new genre or a new author to appreciate. The only successful book club that I've seen on line is on Eons.

I will have to check that site out. I think you may be right about reading interests. Never heard of Luanne Rice is she related to Ann? Are her books fiction or more self help, I could always use some help in relationships.

Luanne is not related to Ann. The books that she writes are fiction. My favorite Luanne Rice novel is Beach Girls. Read it and you'll be hooked on Rice.

I've noticed that as well. I've answered a few on Pride & Prejudice but it ended after that. There seems to be no real in-depth discussions that you might find in a book club that met in person. I've tried to do group reads online but I've never had much luck with them. Someone always ends up complaining about how they have no time. What have you read recently? I just mentioned the current books I'm reading The Calling, Dematerializing, and Tainted Truth. However, I've read a lot lol.

I've read a great deal of fiction for my job, so most of the classics. (I'm a teacher). I also read a great many self-help books too. The most recent ones have been Clear your clutter with Feng Shui by Karen Kingston, I really recommend that one. I just finished The Satanic Witch. I think my favorite fiction has to be Sense & Sensibility, Pride & Prejudice, and Jane Eyre.

I read constantly, from a wide range of subjects. I haven't tried to start any discussions about books, so I can't confirm your observations.

I have noticed the same thing, as well, which I find a bit of a shame, because I love discussing books with people. My fiance and I are taking a Jane Austen course, and we were having this debate on characters in the book, I believe. I would certainly enjoy having more discussions about novels and such, here on mylot.

It is great that you and your fiance can discuss them, my husband barely reads the paper when we get it. So frustrating for a reader! He gets agitated because I tell him if you want to get me a gift that means something get me a book!

True.Though there are posts asking for book recommendations, I don't see much of them (books) being discussed here. One DC Merkle here on myLot had shown interest and wanted to make a book discussion group and it turned out that we were the only two of us.DCM had suggested Reading and discussing The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama. Then since there was no "crowd"[three is crowd!!]- even after making a beginning through Email exchanges, I must say it didn't pick up much. Well, as for my current reading, I am reading Blink by Malcolm Gladwell - the non-fiction book is interesting in that it deals with a scientific study of the snap judgments/decisions we make, how this will make or mar the results. I picked this book up in a composite offer[there are three other books] from a book-selling website in India in a promotional offer. I had previously read a book on Intuition. I like this subject of intuition, so this book goes well with my personal convictions. The other two books I recently completed reading were Gandhi & Churchill by Arthur Herman : My love of History. Mystery of Karma by V.K.Saraf : I like this unifying concept of Karma, that underlies Hindu (also Buddhist/Jain and Sikh Philosophy) I do not read much Fiction unless it is strongly recommended by someone. On the fiction side I have read Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code(eBook) and Angels and Demons.(Paperback)

I would say that most of your reading list is pretty deep and interesting. Not sure I would like the Karma, but Churchill and Ghandi might be interesting. I love history especially world history. When I was in college and realized how young our country is in comparison to history it was amazing to me! (maybe I am easily amused? lol) Snap judgements huh? That could be an interesting study as well. Let us know what you think of it.

I think it truly depends on the people that read...I have started a few discussions regarding reading and they didnt go very far either, since the ones that responded didnt read the books I read...LOL I havent had the time to read as much, but as I get settled in more with my online sites, summer is coming, I have a yard sale I am getting ready for and a son in school (his schedule has thrown me off a bit..LOL) I am hoping to get back to reading more in the summer time. I read paranormal romance, and historical romance, and some contemporary... what do you read?

I bet most readers are not online but reading their books. But to entertain your thoughts, I have read a book called Saint by Tedd Dekker. Its one out of a series of books with Sinner, Choas and the circle trilogy. Its a christian based fiction but I can hardly tell. The story telling is amazing and its a really suspenseful book.
