Using a Gas Stove?

I am wondering if you use a gas or electric stove? Ours is Gas and I can't say I enjoy it to much! For those who or had a gas stove did you like it better than the electric? and why? I guess I just don't like the fact of my kids and the open flame!

I have an electric now but have had gas in the past. I prefer gas since you have better control of the heat and when it is off, it is off, there is not so much hangover heat. On many electric ones, if not all of them, the burners can be very hot without there being any sign that they are except with some of newer ones that have a light somewhere that shows they are hot. It is easier to teach kids to avoid an obvious flame than some heating element that is hot that looks the same as when it is cold.

....Thank you stealthy I had no idea ....having this Gas stove is new to me! I guess I was just use to the electric but sounds like I should be glad I have the gas for the obvious reasons....My I ask why you are now with electric?

I own my home and it came with only connections for an electric stove and it would be very expensive and difficult to change it out. I do have gas heat and hot water but that was added after the house was built but before I bought it and the pipes run over the roof to heating unit which is on the roof and down into the garage where the water heater is. Because of where the kitchen is located and where ducts run, it would probably cost several thousand dollars to run gas into the kitchen; not to mention that space is very limited.

We use gas, and I can't say if I like it best or not because I've never used electric! But I like how I can see what's going on with the flame. The oven does take a long time to pre-heat though, and that can be kinda irritating sometimes, especially when I have rolls rising, and the oven isn't ready before they start to fall!
