i just saw on the news a few mins. ago about this lady auctioned off her hair for extra money. she'd lost her job and really needed the 2 thousand and some dollars she got for it. how cool. i would do it except mine is not that healthy and its mostly grey under the coloring. i tried going to hairtrader.com where she said it was auctioned and also to foxnews to see if i could send a link for anyone to go to. sorry to say i couldnt find it, but if i did mylot would probably delete this discussion anyway. so if you find it maybe just say where its located. this is quite a good idea tho for gals and guys out there that could do this to get money they need. sorry im on a roll with these discussions. some days here i just love mylot and you all so much i cant stop

Yes, I also found a news about such news at mylot or somewhere that someone selling their hairs but sorry to say that I have not bookmarked that and forgotten now. I agree with you that it is a good idea to have some money during a measurable time. I think we have no such good scope in my country becuase this type business is not so much popular here.

yes some countries would likely not go for it because of religious purposes.

Though there are some religious facts in my country but those are not only the matters. As far as I know there are no business organization related to hair business. May be some are related to hair replacement, really their attaching artificial hairs on naturally/gradually hairless head.

Here is a link I found that is what your talking about. I think http://www.thehairtrader.com/ Hair has been sold for more the n $2,000 almost $3,000 wow.. answering from email so sorry if I am only posting what others have already

Your most welcome. I had to dig a bit for it but it was worth it for someone who needed it. Well, it is one good insinuative reason to take care of your hair and use good products to reduce damage. If I had healthy hair I would be there selling mine right now...lol

it's probably because they want all one color w/lenght to it. we have people donating their long hair to locks for love, i believe is what it's called. they make wigs for children w/cancer that have lost their hair, i cut hair for 47 years so i could have saved up a bunch. lol

lol thanks.. mines unruly.. drives me nuts because it has enough wave in it to where it wont stay put or do anything i want it to.. if i leave it down after brushing it 5 minutes later its a tangled mess no matter if its in healthy condition or what kind of shampoo i use.. its gotten better over the years but still annoys me.. but during the times i dyed my hair it was really crazy

hello bunnybon how cool is that to auction off your hair like that and how much money did she make? two thousand dollars? oh my gosh! but sorry to say that i am in the same boat that you are in as grey hairs through my hair these days. i go once about every three or four months to have my hair dyed back to the brunette color that it is supposed to be. but that would be great if i could cut my hair like that and auction it off and sell it for two thousand plus dollars. and that is good that you are starting new discussions around here at Mylot. lol it gives us all something to do, right? take care and have a beautiful evening.

yes, we all love the talk on here. i think if i still had the hair i had when i was young, first i would auction it, then grow it again to donate to cancer patients and switch back and forth like that.

I think that the woman found herself in such dire needs to trade her hair for money. It is such a pity that she had to resort to such things. But if I was in her position I would do that myself.

If I had a long hair and I need money, I may consider of doing that as well. There is nothing wrong to sell your own hair as our hair grows back again. I think thats better rather than selling blood and other organs which are not healthy for the body. I used to be a hair model in some training beauty salons before but they didn't pay me, I just have a new hair cut for free thats all.

Cool I know I have thought about auctioning off my hair myself. It is not long enough yet but mine has no dye in it. Which I think would sell better. I know in this tough times you can sell almost anything and make a little cash. Blood and or plasma is another way to make some money. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well.

Hello bunnybon7 I didn't see this discussion before, I think the idea to sell our hair is very cool. But who would buy hair from us? If I can sell my hair, that's very cool I would have extra money. My hair grows very fast, so I think I could make huge amount of money if I sold my hair.

This is pretty cool, I don't know there are even someone buying hair. But why they want the hair? Is it for any purpose? There was once when I cut my long hair, and I just kept it for memory or for fun. After a few years later, when I saw my long hair, I felt quite scary, though it's my own hair.

Yes, it's reala cool idea to sell your hair if you are in an emergency. But I wonder what we feel like after we lose our hair for which we had cared for so many years...may be some consolation in the fact that it will grow back, if we have time for it. Good discussion.

I didn't know that you could auction your hair but I don't think I would. I've donated mine three times to Locks of Love to make hair pieces for people who lose their hair for medical reasons and couldn't afford the pieces otherwise. My four year old granddaughter just had her hair cut for the first time a few weeks ago and donated her hair to them as well. You wouldn't think that a four year old would have hair long enough but she's tall for her age (4 ft tall) and her hair was so long she was sitting on it. Now it's shoulder length and she still had enough to donate.

Auctioned off my hair for money?? hahahahah..Good idea but NO~~ NOT MY HAIR!!...My wonderful silky black hair~~ Xp lol I can't believe our hair has a value to it, sounds pretty weird to me..I guess they're used to make wigs? I wonder if we'd get more money if we sell extremely healthy hair to them..haha ^_^
