Paperbackswap. Have you heard of the site? Have you used the site?

I love paperbackswap. I have gotten several books from here where I swapped a book I didn't want and got something else good to read. The way it works is that you list the books you want to get rid of, if someone requests them then you mail it to them (you pay for shipping which is around $2) and then you find something on the site to request from someone else and you have a new book to read. So the overall cost for a new book is $2 instead of losing a 1/5 of a book's price to half.com or a used book store and then having to shell out more $$ for something new to read. They swap more than paperbacks, they swap hardbacks and audio books as well even including such things as Manga. Right now there are 3,012,646 books available on the site and the site says that I have saved $58.50 by using their service. In this time of pinching pennies this is a great site to know about. So have you used this site or one like it? What do you think of it? If you would like the link to Paperbackswap then please PM b/c I do get a free book credit for referring members. Also after you list your first 10 books on the site they will give you a free book credit. I can't say enough good things about this site.

I have gotten some great books. I read a lot of supernatural fiction like vampire novels and the like and those are hard to get sometimes even in used bookstores. And I have gotten quite a few of them through the site. I have gotten maybe 10-12 books that I wanted to read. Its a great system. And the more people who join the more books there are to trade so its a win/win!

Wow! I never heard of the site. I love to read and I just took seventeen books to the library. I usually donate them after I read them but paperbackswap sounds like a great solution. My finances changed significantly and I'm looking for every way that I can find to cut down on my expenses. Thanks for the tip.

I had an account there and did list several books for swap. Someone wanted one of my books but the email they sent me never came through my email so they closed my account. It seems like a great idea but I don't think you can really tell what you're getting when you swap. I'd be worried about not getting what you asked for among other things.

I have gotten 10-15 books and I haven't gotten any books that were damaged or the wrong thing, once. One hasn't even gotten lost in the mail yet. Sorry you had a bad experience with it.

Thats great. There are a lot of great sites like this popping up. Which is good for us in this bad economy right now.

I have looked into this site and it looks great! Just one little problem for me, though--anyone using it must have a valid USPS mailing address. In other words, only open to US citizens. *sigh* I wish we had something like it here in Canada.

Thats too bad. The good news though is that they are working on incorporating the Canadian postal system into their site so maybe they will allow Canadians to join soon.

Thank you so much for the info. I just went and checked it out and signed up. What I see so far is great. I have over 100 books that I have been holding on to. Now I have someplace to post them and get new reading material for myself. I am also going to pass this information on to my friends and family. Thanks again!
