Given wrong embryo so lady has an abortion

I have just read that a lady is Japan aborted her baby because the hospital gave her the wrong embryo in the fertility treatment she was getting. She is suing them for a lot of money because of the error. If I had been in that situation I wouldn't have had an abortion. But I imagine the owners of the embryo might think the baby is theirs. What do you think?

Goodness knows what the legal implications are. I don't agree with all this superficial childbirth anyway... it must be heartbreaking for some, but then I'm a very sensitive person. I can see how somebody who can't have kids might appreciate this but there are so many children in the world needing adoption that get ignored because of these scientific abnormalities. Sorry my friend, but if this wanted a child that badly, she wouldn't have gone aborting it willy-nilly and this selfishness makes me angry. What right does she have aborting anyway? Grrrrrrrrrr! Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I agree with you, on both counts my friend. What if it was the wrong embryo? The baby was still growing inside of her, and she had to start feeling some sort of bond with it, if not by the time she decided to abort... definitely in the ensuing months. It's awful what she did... the poor baby, or embryo, didn't ask to be conceived of her... it was her decision. I'm sorry, but it makes me feel sick to the stomach.

Hi there my friend Darkwing. Yes, it is strange that this woman wanted a baby but aborted it. She felt it was the wrong child but it was just innocent little baby. I like to see children getting adopted and then leading happy lives. I feel sorry for any child awaiting adoption for a long time because they might feel unwanted. Best wishes.

That is just so sad... if i were in that situation... i don't think i can ever bring myself to have an abortion... and after i give birth... i will surely fight to keep the baby... and sue the hospital for the mistake they did... in circumstances like this... making a mistake is not an option since they are dealing with the life of and innocent...

I think the baby is an innocent one too. I think it is great that if in that situation you would fight to keep your baby. Suing the hospital would be an excellent idea.

This is so wrong. I do not agree with abortion in my opinion it is murdering the child. She had no right killing the child and the doctors were wrong but, the lady is worse to kill the child just because she recieved the wrong embryo. Why is this allowed to happen? It takes God totally out of the equation.

In my opinion the lady did the wrong thing because life begins at conception. When abortion is legal it makes some people believe it is acceptable. I would never have an abortion. Some ladies only want their own child but I would treat an adopted child the same as my naturally born children. I would keep the wrong embryo and accept the mistake was meant to happen.

Hi maximax8! I wouldn't have the abortion too but I will be kinda confused somehow why I am carrying another person's embryo. And it might also create a problem with the owner of the embryo who would want her baby back once I give birth. Oh, oh this is a very delicate situation. I wouldn't want to have an abortion but I don't think I can give away the baby I carried in my womb for nine months. Take care and blessings to you! lovelots..faith

Hi my friend Faith. That would be such a tricky situation. I wouldn't be able to have an abortion but giving the real mum her baby would be challenging. Mistakes can happen and imagine explaining to the child when he or she is older. Take care and best wishes. Maxine

Hi maxine dear! Yes, i do agree with you that it is a very tricky situation especially when the child grows older and how can I explain it to him/her the situation we all got into. Really difficult! lovelots..faith

As long as the embryo is from another Japaneeze person I don;t think she should have gotten the abortion either. She obviously wants to have a baby and if she was allowed to have it, then she should have been happy she got pregnant. But then I guess she wants to have a baby that is from one of her own eggs and I don't blame her for that either. It is hard to really say what I would do if it were me. But I think I would have been happy to be pregnant. But who knows. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

Hi my friend Chris. I think in that lady's case I wouldn't have worried what nationality the parents were that the embryo belonged to. I would just continue with the pregnancy and be happy with whatever the baby looked like when he or she was born. Have a lovely time on wonderful My Lot. Maxine

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh my head hurts.... Possibly there are legal issues with who the embryo belongs to. In my head, I'd definitely have a problem with giving birth to a child if I knew it was going to be taken away. But I'd probably still do it. But to some people it is very important that the child be theirs genetically.

It would be a legal issue nightmare to have such a baby but I would do it if I was in that situation. After giving birth I don't think I would be able to give up my baby. In life I like the idea of adoption and so I would happily adopt a child and feel they are mine. Thanks for your superb response.

I wouldn't want to give up the baby either but part of the problem is that I might be forced to for legal reasons. Scary thought!

If I had gotten the wrong embyro, I would have given birth to her or him and tried to keep her or him. If the other parents want her or him, I would feel bad about trading. And I would not want to give her or him up for adoption. I mean even if the baby looked so much unlike me, I could not. If the baby was of a different ethnic group, I would say that maybe one of my ancestors was of the ethnic group. but abortion would not be in the picture.

How irresponsible the hospital was!Honestly,I cant understand fully about the whole thing, but Im sure the lady could have saved a lot of trouble if not getting the wrong embryo.Accients happen.
