All of us have our own way of doing things and some things are done out of habit. So, I’m wondering for those that have or have had shower curtains…do you keep them open or closed when your not in the shower or tub? I keep mine open most of the time. When their closed it creeps me out and sometimes at night if their closed I have to peek behind them to make sure no one is hiding in there. If I go to someone’s house and I see their curtains closed I have to peek too especially if I’m using the bathroom. Maybe it’s from too many horror movies or something but that’s how I am. I don’t like the see through ones b/c I feel exposed with them. What about you? Do you peek behind it? What about a clear curtain? What if your using the restroom at someone else’s house and it’s closed, do you peek? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Too many horror movies would sure do it!! :-) I close mine right after I get out of the shower so that it will dry off open and not get moldy, etc. But I tend to keep the curtains open otherwise. Mostly so I can just throw them closed and step into the shower when I need to. I have had clear curtains before. I know it bothers some people, but I guess I don't worry about people walking into my bathroom when I am showering so clear curtains don't bother me. A good idea for you if you worry about it!

lol I leave mine closed when no one is using it. It has an underwater scene I like so to enjoy it close it. Plus like one person said makes the room look finished. lol I have never checked behind another persons curtain. As for horror movies can understand what you are saying I watch a lot of them to and does do things to the mind especially at niht.....lol But remember this sometimes when they look behind the curtain thats the last thing they look at.... muahahahahah

also when you leave the curtain open it collects the moisture and also leads to mildew. It is better to close it and air it out a bit.

I think I read too much about that Boston guy who hid in the bathrooms and strangled people long time ago. I keep my shower curtain open most of the time to dry it but if i go to a bathroom somewhere else, I peek behind the curtain. I think it has become a habit and I do it without thinking of the Boston strangler..

I keep mine closed because they are decorative. I sort of outgrew fear of the Boogie Man as a kid, lol. I do not have such fears. If they got in my tub, they would have to either get past me, my alarm system or all the junk on my window sill!

I keep mine closed so that less mildew will form. All you'll find hiding in my tub are spiders. So if your are peaking just say HI

It could go either way. Sometimes the cat likes to hang out in the bathtub and to prevent her from tearing up the curtain we have to keep it open. During parties or when company is over we close the curtain and lock the cat up.

I have shower curtains with fish and dolphins and this beautiful ocean scene. I keep them open so the entire beauty of it , can be enjoyed. I am not spooky because I have three dogs that would have notified me , if a mouse took a tinkle a million miles away lol hahahahahhahaha

Well, I don't have a shower in my present house, but when I did have a shower, I'd leave the curtains closed until they were dry, then open them up. Bathrooms are (usuall) small enough without adding to the closed in feeling with the shower curtains reducing visible space.

I have always kept the shower curtain closed when the bathtub was not in use. For me, it just gives the room a more finished or clean appearance. Of course I was never one to watch too many horror movies lol. As for peeking behind the shower curtain at someone else's home, it never really occured to me to do that, don't think I'll start now lol.

This is really an interesting subject twoey.... hope you don't mind my saying so!! lol But I have to tell you that it's pretty normal for anybody to want to see what's behind the shower curtain especially when it's closed. It's human nature. As for me, I keep our shower curtains closed so the beauty of the curtain can be seen. Otherwise, what's the use of getting something decorative if it can't be shown off? But I do understand why you would sneak a peek because that's making you feel more secure that you are alone in the room. Heck, if I had that phobia, then I'd be doing the peeking too! Come over my place and I promise you, there won't be anybody behind my shower curtain!! AND it'll be sparkling clean!! That is, as long as the cats haven't gotten into it to play and leaving cat foot prints or cat hair behind! lol

Open!! Always. ANd I have to change them so often, they don't have time to get all mildewy, because my cats rip them to shreds before they have that chance. I must have watched some of the same horror movies as you because they creep me out too when they're closed. I figure there COULD be someone behind there. Well, there COULD be. And yes, I use clear ones, because I have to be able to see what's out there. I mean, what if Anthony Perkins is out there with a butcher knife????? Ok, maybe not Anthony Perkins, but SOMEONE! Seriously! Silly, yes, I know that, but still, it's how I feel. Sigh. I love this discussion! Thanks!

We usually keep our shower curtains open when they are not in use. But it does not bother me if they are closed. No I can't say that I have peeked behind someone else shower curtains if I have used their bathroom. I hadn't really given it much fault about what could be lurking behind a shower curtain until now. But it doesn't really bother me.

LOL - That's funny! I keep my closed because then the water runs off better and the curtain dries out more. I found i have to clean it less often when I do that. I don't get creeped out by it if they are closed and don't have to check behind them, unless of course I'm at a person's house that is a practical joker. Well then, you never do know!

I close ours. We have a problem with iron in our water and it makes the shower look dirtier than it really is. It took me a long time after reading "The Shining" to be comfortable in a bathroom with the shower curtain drawn. I'd have to open it then close it when I was done and run out.

I know this is an old discussion but I so wanted to post on it. I do the same thing you do lol I peek behind the curtain too and I never keep them closed at home. I really don't know what I would do if there was actually someone behind the curtain I guess I would just slam it shut and run lol.

I dunno it depends on if I have company comming over then I close them as there's a window in my shower/tub so I like to open the curtain for the natural lighting. But I guess thinking about it, it could be creapy especially if you have silly kitties that like to nap in the tub and start moving it about.

I always keep ours closed because I feel like it gives it more of a clean look. We have a nice shower curtain and it always shows that off. I think it's also nice to hide our shower items and bathroom/shower clutter.

i sometimes wonder if people do that because their bathtub/shower etc, is dirty and they dont feel like cleaning it yet? since i moved in with my son, his gf used to use my shower all the time i wouldnt mind if she'd cleaned it but she started hinting that i should clean it. then when i told her she should clean it also since she use it to she finally quit using it. up until then, she would leave it open as i like to. now when she use my bathroom in a hurry, to keep from going all the way in hers, she keeps closing the shower curtains and i keep opening them back!uuuggghhh! nerves are shot here

I usually keep the shower curtains open. I have never had any scary experiences, but I don't like the idea of someone hiding behind the shower curtains, and I feel more comfortable when I keep them open. But I do close them sometimes. When I am having company I sometimes use the shower curtains to hide the dirty laundry, so in those cases I always close the curtains If I visit someone else's house and their shower curtains are closed and I usually feel tempted to open them, but I force myself to leave them the way their are, and I usually don't peak behind the curtain.
