Hi emilie! I used to have one but when I got him he was already full grown. I have heard that they teethe. I give mine a bath twice a week and he loved it as long as I laid him down my forearm while I was doing it. It made him more secure I think. They are rea;;y funny creatures so play with him a lot..lol..Take care.

Yeah I heard they teeth and loose there baby teeth also. May I ask why you bathe yours twice a week. I was told once a year or twice a year because if you bathe to much then they work hard to perspire there glands back. Do you have any other helpful advice or knowledge you can share I been reading Ferrets for dummies. She is four months old now. Thank you for your help

I bathed so often because of his scent. He had his glands removed but as you know..they still have a bit of one. I did read that but used a special conditioning shampoo just for ferrets. They usually carry it in pet stores. I also found they love fruit. It's good for them too. The food I bought for mine had chunks of dried fruit in it. Special for a ferret as well. I find they are not as easy to litter train as the books say they are. I had a fit training mine. He was already full grown when I got him though.

I think it was a ferret that my cousin had at one time and that my grandmother had babysat. I'm not sure about their care and needs but I have provided a link. The site hasn't been updated in awhile so I don't know how much helpful it will be but it does have a resource area for it. http://www.ferretcentral.org/. I wanted to stop by and say I appreciate your recent response to me. I hope you have fun mylotting. Great discussion, and I hope you've got more acquainted with your ferret. Good Luck on it's care.

Thank you for the link I am going to check it out. Yes I have gotten more acquainted with her. We block off one room in the house and let her run in the living room when we are in hear. I am almost done reading my book about her I am learning so much. She will be 6 mo on May 9th. I will be taking her for her rabies shots and other shots. Happy my lotting to you also. Take care and have a good week

I've never had a ferret and I don't think my husband would ever allow me to own one. But I do know put plenty of chew toys in there that you can get at your local pet store. I always recommend calling your pet store, or going there and seeing if anyone there knows anything about ferrets.

my middle son has one. i never had one but he says it runs the house the cats stay clear of it and dogs also. he has a lots of pets. he says his ferret steals things and hides them in a special place. every time they find it and retrieve their stuff, she finds another spot to hide stuff.

We finally decide to block off one room and try to let her run in just one room. I am a little afraid to let her run the whole house. Yes she dose like to hide things and store them for latter she had a stash a food behind the book case.

If you get them enough things to chew on they shouldn't chew on their other belongings! Also, make sure you clean their cages alot because they start to smell very quickly! You can also search on the internet for more information on caring for your ferret. Good Luck!!

Thank You for your advise I was at the pet store tonight and bought a chew toy and some chew treats for her to try. also they told me about this spray so they wouldn't chew things you don't want them to chew. So I tried it on the new hammock I bought her so I am going to see how it works out. I borrowed Ferrets for dummies from the library so I also been reading that. Thanks agian
