Have you felt that things are already bad for you and it can't get any worse? Well that is how I feel, as most of you know I lost my job back in December of 2008, that is not the worse of it. I filed my income tax and guess what yeah you are right I owe the government, I have never had to pay the IRS in my whole lifetime of working. Why now. I don't have any money and I was looking for that little money I thought I was going to get to help me with my medical and prescription assistance. That's the way life goes. Have you filed your income taxes? Have you received your refund check?

I haven't filed yet because I know the government is just going to take it back any way. I still have a student loan I'm paying off and they've been taking my income tax check every year. They even took the stimulus check that we got before so I'm not too impressed with the stimulus checks. I don't see them any way so they haven't helped me in the least. By the way.... my income tax check that they took only covered the interest rate for one year on my student loan.

Hi Chevee, My hubby received his check already and he was paying off some of our bills. It helps a lot since it was a good amount! I am not working but hoping to find a job in this midst of crisis!

Yeah I have that feeling all the time. We got our tax refund back already, but we are so far in debt that ALL of it was spent before we ever got it back. I think that is the ordeal that most of us are finding ourselves in. There was a man on Anderson Cooper 360 last night that made a similar statement about the "stimulus" check that Bush sent to everyone not long ago. He said that the checks were not spent to stimulate the economy the way the Bush administration had hoped they would be, but that they had been spent to pay off credit card and other DEBT that people had already accrued. That is certainly what my wife and I did with ours, and that is what I intend to do with any more checks of that nature that are sent out in the future. I hope Obama sends us all a BIG one pretty soon. I have a couple more credit cards I would like to pay off...

I have not done my taxes yet, and I am a little scared that I may end up in the same boat as you. But, I will try to get those done before the deadline and hope for the best

Hi Chevee, I am so sorry that it happened like that, how much more do the goverment wants? I am on diability benefits so I don't have to file my income tax. Hugs. Tamara

I have roughly done ours and we are like you, have never had to pay before until this year. So, I have not filed yet, I am praying for a miracle or maybe I have over looked something? I tried it online since I don't have the IRS book or forms on hand. I need to print some things off and try it on paper.

That sucks that you owe money to the government. I go a refund this year. It was not the best return I ever had, but it was better than nothing. My biggest return ever was $5052 3 years ago. That was a nice one.
