Today is my daughters final swim lesson. She is there with her daddy right now. Last week I went. The instructor asked if we were signing her up to continue. Unlike some of the other kids, my daughter doesn't show that she is afraid. I don't think she is. My daughter seems to enjoy the lessons. Are/were your kids afraid of swim lessons?

Hey that is great she will be a little water dog before you know it. I bet your daughter would love to continue on with her lessons. We were raised swimming in creeks, ponds, lakes since we were old enough to wade water. Of course now days that is not advisable with some sewers still running into creeks and lakes along with other chemicals people flush down their toilets and drains. with us it was we either learned to swim in the water or sit at the sidelines while everyone else had fun. I love swimming so much...so so so much..I can't wait to be able to go swimming again. In the nest county over they are a man made beach that is just heavenly awesome..I was only able to get there once last year and now I am pining for it again..

I think swim lessons need to proceed at the child's pace. I had a friend of the family who's son developed quite the phobia of swimming and water. There is a theory which was put forward that the fear originated in a bath time disaster when he was in his dad's mother's (grandma on dad's side) care.

learning to swim - It is a very wonderful sport so far as swimming is concerned.
Hello ersmommy. I guess that your daughter will soon learn how to swim well since she is not afraid of. Well, I used to try to learn to swim as a kid, but being afraid of staying alone in water, I failed to learn how, which is a great regret of mine. Take care, friend.

My son took swimming lessons when he was 3. He was not afraid of being in the water, but he would freak out if he got water in his face. He is 9 now and he still hates water on his face.
