When I heard in the news that the cheaper medicine bill was signed in to law, I had doubt it will be successful in bringing down prices of medicine. It think its just another tool for people with vested interest to earn more money and main author of the law I think will run for presidency in 2010. It is his way to be popular.

It would work the cheaper medicine bill but another topic is the medicine bought in cheap prices would not work. I tried to buy cheaper medicine but my chronic cough won't be cured when I bought the good ones after a few days of taking the medicine it's all gone.

Hi and hello to you my kababayan. By the way good day to you, regarding your forum discussion entitled " cheaper medicine bill can it really bring the cost of medicine down?". Well i guess it will make the cost of medicine down because many people in the Philippines will buy that very affordable medicine which causes the other market that selling a medicine will make the cost down in order for the people to buy problem because some people will abuse the medicine. They will abuse the medicine by making a immitation one which make cause the low quality of the medicine and as i know if that will happen. I think the population of the Philippine people or what i mean is the population of Filipino will became down. I hope if ever i will have a fever. I hope i will drink or take the proper medicine to restore my good health and to give streanght to me. . . Well that's all my response to your forum topic discussion entitled "cheaper medicine bill can it really bring the cost of medicine down". That's all my response to your discussion. . . Happy mylotting! ! !

Until the bill is enacted into law only then we can only say that it is effective or not. Another thing is the cooperation of each and everyone in the sector, the consumer, doctors and the big pharma companies. Right now there seems to be a cartel on these large pharma companies that control the prices of medicines. With the introduction of this law it may stir them to compete with the prices they are offering right now because other smaller pharma that can offer lower prices might be introduce in the market. Doctors are against this because as we all know they have some share in these big companies if they would prescribe these to their patients with the enactment of this law the practice might be stopped since they would not be allowed to prescribed a specific brand of medicine that these pharma companies would like to promote. The consumer will have the choice to buy an alternative medicines that is suited to his budget.

To be honest im not a filipino but the shameless abuse by the government trying to secure votes I think insults the people of the Philippines. Like everything else the worn roads, the poor infrustructure, the money stolen from agriculture and things like Dengue clear up (which resulted in deaths) the politicians really dont care about the people. They will sell out the people as soon as they secure a seat for themselves and this is a prime example. If they bring down the bill dont you think there will be a new tax added to compensate and put it above the last cost?? They have just virtually doubled all the visas not only for foreigners but also OFWs. Both groups give a lot of money to the Philippines economy. Yet they sit and do nothing while the Philippines begins to collapse into a recession no doubt blaming the West where the truth is they arent helping bring in foreign investment. Infact most foreigners here would tell someone if they want to open a business go to China,Malaysia or Thailand where you are going to get less problems with political greed and corruption.

The cheaper medicines bill would work but it seems like the doctors are not cooperative enough and will most likely snub it. They gain from the medicines they prescribe and if the cheaper medicines bill only goes for generic medicines, then it will have little effect on consumers.

We can't really tell what purpose this bill serves as of now, let's just wait for the smokes to clear up. But I think the main author of that bill is not running for President, the one you're referring to as running for President just took credits for that bill in other words claimed it, in my own perception of things I think he just wants this bill to be a platform for his candidacy but we can't really be sure and tell right away now, better just keep a vigilant eye open. That bill would work, provided every one of us Filipinos would cooperate.

i think if im not mistaken its senator mar roxas is the author of the bill. well, i could say there is politicking there. we all know he is running next year for presidentiable. about the bill, i just hope it would really be implemented or at least be done as soon as possible. you see, i am a walking pharmacy. i had lived this long because of the medicines i take everyday. i dont want to calculate the amount spent on my meds coz it might be like can already build a house. lol.
