Another Spending Bill

United States

Congress is scrambling to get in a new appropriations bill. This one is said to be worth $410 billion. Together with prior appropriations for defense, homeland security and veterans, this breaks the trillion-dollar mark for nonemergency appropriations — providing $1.012 trillion for 2009, a 6.7 percent increase over 2008. The House is expected to take up the measure as early as this week; the Senate will quickly follow. You can expect another fight like the one over the economic stimulus plan. Obama will be releasing a summary report soon. But he will not be releasing a detailed report to congress on his budget until April....after the bill has already been voted on and probly passed. Which means our elected officials will be voting blind again. What do you think about this? Should congress get the full detailed report BEFORE they vote? Should we be adding another 410 billion to our national debt? How much fat do you think will be in this one? Tell me what you think.

I heard this on the morning news and actually stood staring at the tv! How on earth could they even consider another spending bill when the stock market is plummeting each and every day! How could they consider another spending bill when the first couple of bills have not been properly overseen? This is just spending money for money's sake! They are just printing money and it should stop now.

Do you have any suggestions? We've just been hunkering down and bracing for the storm.

start calling your elected officials and tell them to stop these spending bills. Tell them NOT to vote for them. ANd then start calling and sending letters to the white house. And if necesary peaceful protests.

The only way these stupid idiots can be spending this kind of money they have cranked up the printing presses and are printing money 24/7.I don't know how much longer the people are going to sit still for this. You can be sure a lot of this money is finding it's way back into the pockets of the ones that are handing it out. If this wasn't the case I don't think they would be doing it. Art

it has been all over hte news that companies that got bail out money contributed massive amounts of money to those elected officials campaigns. Of course it was after the bill was passed. So basically what the elected officials did was take money from us to give to companies so that then the companies could give some of it back to the elected officals. Seems like our politicans think it is a good way to get their hands on some our money. THey can not legally just take it....so they get a partner in crime. Write a bill, tell a company or special interst group they will write them some money into the bill, in return that company gives them some of the money. Why are these people not in jail and why are the american people standing for it. We are basically being robbed.

I can't believe I finally found someone that agrees with me and has the guts to speak up. For the life of me I cannot understand why the people are sitting on their hands and letting things like this happen. All I can figure is most of the people have their heads in the sand hoping all this will go away. God help us when they are forced to pull their heads out of the sand and it hasn't gone away. At this point most of the hurt is being put on the poorer working people but in time it is going to eat it's way up into the middle class. When that happens there is going to be a lot of slow marching and loud singing going on and this whole thing will probably blow up in our faces. The middle class are just arrogant enough to think they can do something about it. They are stupid enough to try. Art

Screw it! Just keep printing the stuff, then we will run out of trees! Our money is losing value as we speak. We could start printing it on construction paper for kicks and giggles!

"Obama will be releasing a summary report soon. What the heck, whats a few hundred billion more. Good thing he is preaching "Fiscal responsability" to us, or we might well be spending our way in to servitude. Oh wait, we are.

I agree. COngress should refuse to vote until they get the detailed report. It is just stupid to vote on a bill when you have no real idea where the money is going.

Since they're printing money like crazy why don't they just print a million each for every citizen. Might as well show their stupidity proudly. Morons.

There is no one to stop them from bankrupting our country. people keep saying that the president has a high approval rating but hustlers like Palosi and Reid keep running these bills through that spend, restrict rights, and just are plain bad for the country. If people were to actually read about what they are spending and who gets this money I think they would care. However, people just don't take the time to do anything about it. Add the new money for health care, the bank takeovers, and welcome to the social republic of the US. In case no one has checked, the stock market goes down even more every time they introduce new stuff. They want to bail out some homeowners but by the time they are ready all houses are going to be worth about half as that market drops and drops. While they have the power they just keep spending and spending and calling it change and they don't worry at all about the future consequences.
