I have a bird feeder out front near my large picture window in my living room. This winter I have been watching the squirrels raid it fully in a few days time. Well one night as I got home I saw the feeder swoinging wildly from the window. As I looked outside I saw the cutest little critter. A chipmunk was feeding from it. It sat there for 2 hours stuffing it's belly and cheeks till it finally left. This photo is fuzzy and grainy as it was taken in the very darkness of night with no lights on in the house and no flash as to not scare it off. Sorry for the lousy photo. But this guy was so cute. He has not been here again that I have seen. Do you have chipmunks raiding your birdfeeder(s) at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I do not think I have chipmunks here in town. They would be cute. I have seen them as close as five miles outside of town. We have squirrels, raccoons, possums, skunks, foxes and some have seen coyote in town. Not all at the bird feeders, however. I bet it is fun to watch the feeders.

I can imagine a coyote eyeing a bird feeder, they do tend to prey on small kritters.

The pic is on a thread but as the author said it's blurry and hard to tell what the kritter is but boy do those eyes stand out.

i'm not sure we have chipmunks in my area..if we have,i've never seen one. i did see a really desperate oppossum one morning though.i didn't think they'd climb the fence to get at it.

I had propped the back door open for my cats once, and had a possum come in my house. They do get pretty determined sometimes.

I have never seen tham at dad's. I have never seen them here. I think they are so cute and it would be nice to watch them if we had them here. I really love all the wildlife. I was raised to appreciate nature and I always have. I have always helped keep the feeders full at dad's. I love the creatures. I will hope that someday a chipmunk turns up! I will be out there watching if he and when he does! Take care and great discussion!

I see that you already noticed there is no picture so I won't tell you that. LOL The last time I saw a chipmunk was on TV and his name was Alvin. He was with the other chipmunks. hehehehe I can't believe he stayed around that long without getting scared off.

Nope I don't have them raiding my bird feeder. When I do have ours full and up the darn starlings eat every inch they can from it. And I do not intend to feed the starlings rather birds other than them. Plus seed is too expensive to have those mini crows steal every inch. And I need to find a bin to store the feed in as well since we find signs of mice in our shed but typically only in winter.

Aww..chipmunks, was it Alvin, Simon, or Theodore..sorry I had to do it..lol. I haven't seen a chipmunk in a long time, I don't know if we even have any here, I do have a birdfeeder, but I don't get any kind of critters in it.

awwww, I thought I was going to see the picture. I had A bird feeder once and I had all kinds of critter feeding from it and yes I had a chipmunk, I even gave him a name. Of course it was Alvin. He would eat from the ground. The feeder was up to high for him. But those darn squirrels knew no boundaries. By now you know my encounter with those ahhhh SQUIRRELS.

Chipmunks are the cutest things,i would have loved to see him with his cheeks all full,it would have made me want to squeeze them.My mom ha a squrial that for the last three years comes on her porch to see what she left for him.She usefully leaves a miter of nut and berries. One time she left popcorn on the table and he ate that. The little guy i not afraid of anyone we can sit right by the window and he will not move until all the food is gone.

Awwwwww... how cute. I love chipmunks but of course, we don't have them in our country... just the squirrels raiding the bird feeders. Do they hibernate or something, Grandpa Bob? Maybe he was storing up for some cold weather. Brightest Blessings, my friend.

Hi Grandpa Bob! We don't have any chipmunks here in our place and only stray cats visit us every night to have some free meal. They are not unexpected anymore since we got used to them and we always prepare some food for them outside. It would be nice if there will be a chipmunk or two who will get lost and find their way in our home. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

Hi Grandpa Bob! I think that is so nice that you feed the little critters! That chipmonk must have been so hungry! I guess with all that snow it's hard for them to find food! It's really nice that you make it so easy for them! He looks so cute with his glowing eyes! Poor little guy! That bird feeder looks like a whole family could just move right in! I think you got a nice picture of the chipmonk! Thanks for sharing it!

I get chip monks, squrriels, birds, deer..and once had a redtailed hawk having a brief rest on top of the feeder. needless to say he made the other birs nervous......but he was fun to watch, he took a nap, head up under a wing, and eventually woke up to angry chatetring squirrels, and ehaded off. too bad we didn't get a picture, we've also got a peregine falcon that nests in our park and hunts the mourning doves and sparrows in our yard....if we didn't feed so many birds, we wouldn't see the predators going for them....!
