Here and there everywhere, you would keep finding people around you who are so much into this religion thing? I just dont mean to say i am a non religious guy or i dont believe in god or power -- but I always used to wonder.... do we really need a religion to know god or to fear of him so that we dont do anything wrong? cant u belive in god and prevent oneself from sins just by knowing that the actions u r following are bad!!! Where doe this community or religion plays its indespensible role?

No, it is not important to follow any religion. In fact, the world would be a far better place without any religion. Religion instills guilt and fear in us. Religion gives false notions about God and thus stands as an obstacle to our spiritual path of discovering the true God.

The world would still be a bad place without religion, because people by nature have faults. Other than that, I agree with everything you have said here.

I am a very deep and committed follower of my religion, that is Hinduism. But if you ask me this question, my answer is No. It is not necessary to follow a religion to feel or get closer to God, if you believe in one. That way religion has a greater social role than the role it plays in peoples' lives right now.Religion was simply old world's way of keeping people's lives a bit organized and regulated when controls of the voluntary kind like political and social were or had not been fully established. Of course I do believe Religion does offer a time tested way to reach God- if you want to that is. Though for a thinking mind it would seem that religion offers a conditioned way that might perhaps lead to God, I personally feel that is OK. What is needed in the present day is for every civilized or educated person to understand the role of religion, in a person's life and aim to achieve the positive goals of his/her religion while trying to gain and gather a reasonable understanding of the religions of other inhabitants of this planet, so that everyone could contribute to peaceful coexistence rather than trying some one-upmanship.

Well Iam 22 year old..and I don't remember the last time I felt the need of a religion or even the thought of god in my life.. When I was a kid I used to go to churches and all ...just to end up sleeping hearing the talks.. Also I believe without religions or the different definitions of god this world could be a lot better.. Let me Quote Laplace here - "I have no need of that hypothesis,he may be around though"

One definition of religion is: "a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects: the Christian religion; the Buddhist religion." If there is one God, then wouldn't it make sense that there would be only one true set of beliefs and practices? And that one day there would be only one religion? I say one day we will get there!

I personally feel that religion is an institution like any other that was discovered by man to regulate the society. But it has become such a menace now that , instead of regulating it is dividing people and destroying peace. We certainly do not need religion to tell us what is right and what is wrong, because what is there in those so called religious truths are all written by people like us depending on the times they existed in. Most of those truths are outdated and dont hold good now, and the problem comes when some fanatics try and take people and nations back into those old times all in the name of religion

Hi Bro. I myself don't have a religion but keeps on believing God. I believe religion is a system of man. It is created by man to approach God. Religion has a standard and that standard is from man. In order for man to avoid any sin, he needs God. Do you believe that God is alive? That God can speak. I'm hearing Him so i'm very conscious of the things that I'm doing. If you want to hear Him also, spend time with Him. Know Him more.

Religion is like your family, it must be for your survival or for your own growth.like you learn from your family, you learn from your religion and select the suitable way for yourself. so it is consider that you must follow any religion. it is equally true that you can decide your own.but if you are doing something wrong then like family member, your religion teaching will stop you from wrong doing.

Are you asking if it's possible to believe in a god without religion? If that's the case, then I'd respond yes. Deists do just that; they believe in a higher power without adhering to any particular religious belief. However, if you're asking whether or not it's possible to not have religious beliefs and, in the meantime, satisfy your god, then I'd recommend looking at what your holy scripture has to say. As far as I know, I've heard that many Christians believe Jesus simply asked for people to believe in his resurrection and they'd be "saved." However, I can't assume that it's the religion you comply with. So, once again, I'd suggest you look at what your religious texts tell you. If you fear enraging your god by not believing in certain beliefs, you should try reading through your texts and see what your god says about believing. As for avoiding living a sinful life without religious beliefs, I'd agree that it's perfectly possible. Nothing requires you to follow a religion in order to be a "good person." Personally, I'm an atheist and I try my best to live in an altruistic and respectful lifestyle. I believe it's extremely important to try to help and respect others. In my opinion, morality isn't derived from the religious texts, but rather from people themselves. I feel that morality originates in society itself rather than religion; we deem what's good and bad in accordance to ourselves. Hopefully I've helped to respond to your questions somehow? :)

it seems to me you are not only referring to religion. is it like you are asking if we can go without those community or some organization to belong to with our beliefs. i think it is almost impossible. cause how could we get our beliefs if we don't have some organization to belong to. cause that is indispensable. they are the ones who has introduced us to our faith and how could live without them. i think in just some short span of time we can live or go on with our beliefs without them specially if we can't physically join them in activities and worship services. but i think that we still have to go back to them. cause we need it as a means to strengthens us. and we are not or should not be alone in our journey of faith. as no man is an island. we all need shoulder to lean . someone to help us with our burdens to carry them with us or sometimes for us.

Hi Ketan, Your question is really a good one! Let me try and share my own views here. Basically, religion is a finite man trying to find the infinite all-knowing God. I am sure, we can know God without being so religious! But being religious may become important after knowing God for sustaining our relationship with this God. So,the first important thing here is a relationship, a relationship with a true living God! I must say that it's impossible to grow in our relationship with God if we remain isolated. So, that's where the importance of community come into play. For instance, you cannot grow in love by loving yourself. But you need some one who is unloving to practice to grow in love and it's possible within a community settings where we find some people lovable and others unlovable. I am not very religious but I do have a relationship, a relationship with God and people around me. Life is more meaningful when we have a meaningful relationship with God, people and our surroundings and ofcourse ourself. Hope it's something of help to you!
