I actually eat a raw clove of garlic three times a day until the cold subsides. It is not a very social herb because of the smell but it works very well on colds.. I also use it if I get a wart. I just crush the clove and rub in the garlic oil. The wart soon disappears. And there isn't such a strong smell of garlic this way, because you are not taking it into your system. . Derek

i try not to take anything if i have a cold unless i have to go to work, but i like to take tylonel cold and flu. i have read that if you take stuff to dry you up that it doesnt allow the bug to go away as fast.

I think thats correct. When I dont take anything for a cold I seem to get better quicker. But if I take cold meds the cold will linger.

I usually take Nyquil nighttime capsules before bed, and the daytime formula during the day. Just swallow with water. I think it works good, the one at night helps too as far as sleep I think. I do not cough as much during the night.

the only thing I will take is tylenol and that is just to keep my fever in check other than that I just let it run its course and use herbal remedies

I try not to take medications when I'm sick; I usually just try to get better "the old fashioned way" - sleeping, drinking a lot of fluids, eating fruits & veggies & soups, and maybe taking some Alka Seltzer. :)

most of the time I really don't take anything, but I might once in a while take sinutab, or neo citran or nyquil but it is very rare that I would take any of that stuff.

I usually take paracetemol so that I can control the fever that comes with a cold so that I am able to get on with stuff that I need to get done. Other than that, I try to get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and consume hot drinks so that I am all warmed up.

When I am sick, I have a hard time finding medicines that work to combat my symptoms. My colds have a tendency of turning into sinus infections, at which point they're pretty much a lost cause without antibiotics. However, the last couple times I've been sick, I've used Mucinex extra strength, because it works really well to dry up my sinuses before they become infected, or to help with the phlegm that often develops after an infection/after the antibiotic is gone. I hope this discussion topic does not mean that you are sick, my friend! But if you are, feel better soon!!

They are routinely available at the medicine shops and are effective as well unless you are allergic to some of those medicines and the Doctor has to be consulted and a specific medicine and dose is necessary.

I find that Western medicine doesn't work too well for me. Cough syrups help suppress the urge to cough, but it doesn't seem to help me recover any faster. Other cold medications just make me drowsy and my body reacts really badly to them sometimes. I take yin chaio pills, which are made from traditional Chinese medicinal herbs.
