This is really a mind-boggling thing to me. Who in this world didn't have anything to do with their time...layed back and sat back up....repeatly until he got abs? What idiot said "I just discovered sit-ups?"

I think sit ups are great. They do tone your stomach and a few other places up. They're ideal, and i love doing sit ups. Keeps you fit and healthy also. Nothing wrong with situps.

Situps is a good way to build abs. It probably wasn't invented by just any guy but probably someone developing a workout either for himself or to go public with. Since the situp is a natural movement, its very effective. Same goes for squats, back lifts, lounges etc. So it wasn't someone who didn't have anything to do with their time, it was someone who thought logically about ways to build muscle (even body builders know that the fastest muscle growth comes from natural movement. But they use tons of extra weight of course :))

They seem a rather bonkers exercise to me too... surely there must be a more excting way of building up abs?
