I need atleast 8 hours of sleep or I feel groggy after I wake up. I don't take regular naps in the afternoon because if I do, the habit sinks in and becomes much worse. How many hours a day do you sleep? Do you take naps in between? Do you feel groggy when you haven't slept the right amount of sleep?

It depends. There are times when I get 8 hours of sleep and thee are times when I just get 5 hours. I don't feel groggy even if I only have 5 hours of sleep when I have a very deep sleep.

Oh yes it happens to me as well that I would need longer hours of sleep when I don't get a deeper, undisturbed sleep. Thanks for the response

I go to bed very late most of the days, but I always gets up early in the morning. It has become like sort of habit for me.No matter how much I try to get sleep again,I can't.I sleep hardly 6 hours,so whenever if possible I do take naps in the afternoon even if it is just for half an hour.It makes me feel fresh to carry on with my household chores again.Happy myLotting!

I think that the most important is that you feel fresh and your body might require only that amount of sleep. Happy mylotting

i need at least 5 hours of sleep to function properly haha. if i get less than that, i'll get a headache and won't feel so good. I usually try to get around 6 - 7 hours of sleep, or more if possible!

Hi,nikky.Yes,I will feel uncomfortable ,depressed when i don't sleep the right amount of sleep.I'm about8-9 hours .Usually,i do to bed at 11:00,and get up at about 7:00.Then,i take a nap in the afternoon after lunch, about 1 hour.I have developed the habit of taking nap in the afternoon,if not, i also feel groggy, and don't want to do anything in the whole afternoon.

Yes I believe that napping also becomes a habit and skipping it would make us feel uncomfortable and lethargic. Thanks for the response.

My sleep schedule for the past year has really been an odd one to say the least. I started off 2008 getting barely 7 hours of sleep in a night. I would always be tired, eventually getting used to being tired all the time. Now that college started in the Fall of 2009, I have noticed me sleeping more. I now tend to require around 9 or 10 hours of sleep. I'm not sure if it is the environment or what but I have taken a notice of it up to this point. I should be off to be now because I won't be getting up to 1 in the afternoon. haha

I go to bad way to early and sleep way to much. About 9 to 10 hours a night on average. I go to bed around 7pm and get up at 4am. Most of the time I'm ready to get up at 2am because I had enough sleep already but there is not much to do that early so I roll around till 4am.

I need eight and a half or nine, but if I do wake up before then that, I don't feel grumpy, all I feel is refreshed from hearing birdsong early in the morning since so many bluebirds live near my home. :) I don't take afternoon naps because, I don't really like to sleep that much. I even have a hard time sleeping during the night, because my eyes keep popping up and interferring with my dreams. I guess you can say that I am an insomniac. :D The rest of my family sometimes take naps in the afternoon, but I don't, unless if I'm not feeling too sleepy and drowsy from a hard load of work. Happy Mylotting.

well, usually i sleep just 6-7 hours/night, but sometimes, i really sleep less than that, and so, i`ll need a day to sleep at least 10 hours .But, in average, i just sleep 6-7 hours. I`m feeling so good just with that. I know that it`s reccomanded to sleep 8 hours/day, but i really can`t do that. It`s too much for me.Sometimes, when i drive, or do something that i need continuous time, i really sleep just 1-2 hours, but the next day i`ll sleep more.

i sleep dailsy 8or 9 hours. sometimes i sleep 6 hours. in my view , for every child below 10 years should sleep 12 hours. for below 25 age, should sleep 8 hours. for above 25 +, should sleep minimum 6 hours.
