My cat has the tendency to walk in front of me, race me down the hall to get in front of me and stop, and sometimes just try to trip me. Now I know it's for attention, but she never was much of a "touchy feely" cat. She still does not like to be picked up and handled, but she does things like this a lot. So what do you think?

I have two cats and it seems only my female will do this. She lets my boys love her but not me. This morning she about sent me flying. My male cat does not seem to do this at all, but he is a no nonsese cat, leave me alone unless I want it.

Hi. My cat is not one to get up in people's lap either, but she is very affectionate. She sleeps in out bed, but always at the farthest corner. Most cats like to be curled up beside you, but her Ella. When I come up from the basement, she walks slowely in front of me...then at the top of the stairs 'falls' on her side in front of me and rolls from side to side. She seems to be like your cat wanting the attention, but I think she would rather get this needed attention from sitting on someone's lap or mauling them. Oh well, our cat seems to rule the house...the dining room chair is in front of the window all winter so that Ella can watch the birds in the bird-feeder. lol Nadine

We call it "Follow along in front of" and near as we can tell, they are trying to lead you some place - probably their food bowl! I have really no clue why some cats do this - I have a lot of cats and only a few of mine do this, I think its because we "free feed." Now, when the bowl is EMPTY - that's another story - we are mobbed by hungry cats and we suddenly have a mat of cats under our feet!

I am always tripping over my cats. They usually run in front of me either because they want to play or they are leading me to their bowl to feed them. My cats don't really care to be picked up either but they love to play, so maybe that is what she wants. I play fetch with them, or give them a string or something to play with.

There have been so many times I have almost killed myself because our cat will stealthily sneak down around my feet without me noticing and I go to take that fateful step and suddenly I'm hopping on one footgrabbing thin air, trying not to to land on her. Then she looks at me like, "What the heck is your problem? Walk much lately?"
