I am curious to know how most of you weigh in on MArried couples financial arrangements? Do you each have your own checking accounts, credit cards, etc or do you prefer joint accounts and credit cards? I much prefer separate checking accounts but I like the joint credit cards. It just seems to work best for our individual situation. I hate to think what would happen if we shared a checking account and one of us forgot to tell the other about a purchase or two. Can you say BOUNCE??? We never have done than and I hope to avoid that type of situation. What do you and your spouse do?

I have been married for almost 13 years and we have a joint account. We have been working on getting rid of as many credit cards as possible. But the only separate ones we had is from before we were married. But we were always co-signers. Then I have a business account for my business. Usually one person in the household does the expenses and you tell each other about any purchases or record it in the balance book.

Im not married, but this is what I do: Me and my bf's accounts are seperate but we are going to be making his bank account into a joint account. I take care of all the bills and making sure they all get payed, buying groceries all of that. Its so much easier to have access to his account to so that I can monitor what payments are coming out of his and what are coming out of mine. So far its working good.

We have one joint account where all funds are deposited - one check book and one debit card - no credit cards. They key is communication about finances and what each person is spending.

if I do get married,I will have a joint account with my husband.I will have my own savings account also.we can have a joint account where we can save for family matters.we can put in that account some amount for our children's education.we can save for future plans like buying a car or new house.I will have my separate bank account for myself.I can use the money I save for buying things I want.
