My 10-year old daughter had a brain tumor and we had it operated/excised last March 30, 2009 when she was 9 years old. Anybody here who suffered the same fate or have a very close relative or friend with the same medical case?

Dear Erickrubio, so sorry to hear that, how is she coping with life now? My sister-in-law passed away a few years ago, after losing her fight with the brain tumour for a few years. She left behind a grieving husband and 2 young kids. My sister-in-law operated twice to remove the brain tumours. She refused to go for a third time and the brain tumor claimed her life. Towards the last few months, she gradually lost consciousness. At first, she couldn't recognise us, the relatives. Then she couldn't recognise her children. At this stage, she couldn't remember eating and drinking. Later on, she lost consciousness and bedridden. She never gained consciousness. A high fever broke out on her forehead (her body was not feverish at all) and she passed away within 24 hours. She never suffered pain, but her family suffered pain at heart. The older child was old enough to remember her, but the younger one was too young to ever remember her mother.

Sorry to hear that, Scheng1! Your sister-in-law probably had a malignant brain tumor. My daughter had a benign one. However, we always have to monitor her via MRI scan to check if there is a recurrence.

My friend Lisa has a 20 year old daughter who just last week had surgery to remove the third tumor in less than 3 years. The first they found just weeks before her high school graduation! This time the doctors were only able to get about 1/3 of it! I am praying for your daughter~ How is she doing now?

Carpenter5, my daughter also had a partial operation since the doctors fear that total excission might ruin her optic nerves since the tumor is just below her brain and just within her optic nerves. As a matter of fact, she was having a double vision befor we discovered the tumor. After undergoing a radio therapy last October-November (a 30-day session), my daughter's vision is now perfect. However, she's been taking daily medicines/steroids since her glands (pituitary and thyroid) were ruined by the tumor. By the way, thank you for the prayers. I'll also pray for the complete healing of Lisa's, your friend, daghter.
