What is the weirdest wrong number call that you have ever gotten?

Hehe, I heard my phone ringing just now and a gentleman who sounded older than me said on the other end 'yeah, mom?' I was like, 'um, no' my kids are way younger than that! Haha. He hung up. But, that is not the weirdest wrong number I have ever gotten. In fact one day I got 3 calls from 3 different people all looking for 3 different women who all just happened to have my same first name. How weird is that? I was cracking up by the time the 3rd person called and was like 'let me guess...' Haha. It was pretty funny. What is your weirdest wrong number call. Not a prank call... wrong number.

Yeah, I had a pizza guy come by my house insisting that I'd ordered a pizza. And the address and everything was correct. I was like 'did I already pay for it?' and he said no. So, I just sent him on his way. Haha, if it had already been paid for I would have so kept myself a free pizza! Haha.

Lol, That has happened to me before, like 3 times, and I finally figured out how the peson was doing it. He/she went to the DOminos website, and ordered online with my adress, phone number and all my information, and they actually delivered without any real idea of who ordered.

Several years ago, someone called my cellphone from JC Penny saying that I needed to come in and talk to this woman because my register drawer came up $200 short. Now, I was about 16 at the time and did not work at a JC Penny. The store in question was over 45 minutes from my house and I was not going to drive that far just to work. Oddly enough, the woman she was looking for had my same first name! I'm not sure how that happened and how she managed to get a girl with the same name, but it was very strange and made for interesting conversation later.

Haha, that's really funny! I think that for a work place to call the wrong number while looking for an employee is pretty funny. Makes you think that working there might not be all that great, huh? Haha.

See? Isn't it freaky? I mean with me it was 3 different times on the same day, one of them was like really bored and he started texting me late at night asking me if I was sure I wasn't this other girl. I was like 'look, I'm 25, I live 2 hours away from you, and I have a mom's meeting in the morning.' He didn't call me back after that.

Oh my gosh! The weirdest thing is happening with my phone right now. I just recently moved from Hawaii to Kansas and had to switch my number from 808 area code to a local number. It's amazing the things we 'forget' to do when changing our numbers. Things we'd never think of... like make sure EVERYONE has your new number! Apparently a girl named Kristen use to have the number I was just given. So far I've had her church call me, her job, her bank (for fraudulent charges on her account), I've been invited to three different birthday parties by her friends thinking I was her & her boyfriend dumped her(thinking I was her). Craziness!

I'm telling you, if I was a horrible person, could you imagine how easily I could live this girl's life just through her phone calls? I'm guessing if she didn't give her boyfriend her new number as soon as she got it, she knew the relationship wasn't going anywhere and probably expected the dumpage. Haha! I agree - cowardly way to do it though.

That too good! Some guy dumped you, thinking you were someone else? Haha. I would have totally told him that it's what he get's for being a coward and not breaking up with her in person!

Well, around Christmas time I was trying to call my Husband's cousin on his cell phone. I guess he had changed his number, because the guy who answered the phone said, quite seriously "Santa's workshop, how may I help you?" I said nothing for about 15 seconds, then I said "REALLY?" and he insisted that yes, it was santa's workshop. I am sure he was pulling my leg, but it was quite funny at the time.

Haha, yeah, I did that once with my own cousin. I called, and was like 'this is your favorite cousin...' and the guy on the other end was like 'Is your cousin's name Johnny?' and I was a little taken aback that it wasn't my cousin but he knew my cousin's name. Haha, apperently when my uncle had taken down the number to give to all of us, he got some numbers mixed up. So the whole lot of my family was calling this poor guy looking for my cousin. Oops!

Well, once when I was a kid (about ten years ago!=)), some weird woman called when I was home alone, so I had to pick up the phone. The conversation went like this: Me: Uhm? Hello? Weird woman: Hello, little angel. Is Joseph or Mary available? Me: (wondering what the...) Er.. no..? I'm alone. Weird woman: How about Jesus then? Can I speak to him? Me: I'm sorry ma'am, but no one is home. (getting freaked out) Weird woman: That's too bad. When they get home, could you please tell them that I'll be visting soon? Me: Yeah... bye... Do I have to say that it was WEIRD?

Wow, didn't your mom tell you not to tell a stranger you were home alone? Haha. My parents made up tell ANYONE (even people that we knew!) that our mom was in the shower, could she call back. Hehe.

Well, both of my parents worked 9-5 and went to college, so I guess the only thing we said to each other was "good morning" when we woke up and "good night" before going to bed. =)

This one wasn't really a WRONG number, but it was a strange phone call. A long time ago, my phone rang one day - way before caller id. I picked it up, said "Hello" and waited. This woman on the other end says "Hello" and waits. I asked if I could help her and she asked why I was calling her. Her phone had just rung and she was answering it. Somehow our lines got crossed and our phones had called each other. She lived in a different state, I have no clue who she was, but we did have a nice funny chat about it for a while.

I had one that just absolutely refused to believe he had the wrong number; thought I was protecting someone who's rear he wanted to kick. And I could not convince him otherwise! "Well, you just tell him..." I hope the poor guy didn't get beat up because he never got the message!

The most common wrong number I get is for a used car lot that has a phone number just one number different from mine, but the weirdest wrong number I ever got . . . The operator says you have a collect call from James. I have a son named James and he was in Germany at the time, so I accepted the call. It was another James from our little town who I knew, he'd been my mechanic when he lived there, and he'd given the operator my number instead of his parents number. LOL I had a nice little chat with him while I looked up his parents phone number. I don't know why he had my number written down.

Well, it was sweet of you to take time out of your day to talk to him. Haha, I have my ex's number still in my phone as 'my love' and my dad's number is 'my dad' since I have my ex's dad's number as 'dad' and he has always been a way better dad than my own has been. So, anyhow, I can't tell you how many times I've gone to call my dad and accidently called my ex and have to sit there and explain 'no the kids are fine, I'm not stalking you, I just slipped on the arrow key and pushed one more number down than I meant to, sorry!' Haha.

I got a wrong number message on my answering machine once. It was really long, and the lady was basically gossiping about everyone and divulging every personal detail of her life. She was probably trying to call her best friend or something and said "let's go out for a drink tonight" at the end.

Haha, that's really funny! I would have listened to that entire message too. Hehe. Too good, really.

That is very weird. I got a lot of wrong calls from the same woman asking for Darlene for about a year once. She always called at two or so in the morning and never seemed to get it that I wasn't Darlene ha and I couldn't figure out how to block the call.

4 Mar 09
I think it usually cost extra money to block calls. Haha. But, yes I have gotten a few from an old lady since living here. She was looking for her elderly friend that supposedly had this number before me. Haha. When she realized she had the wrong number and had hung up I was sitting there thinking, do I sound old that she actually had to ask me if I was her friend?

Probably mine was when I was just getting out of the shower and I cell phone started ringing so when I looked at the number and didnt recognize it I was thinking it was one of my friends trying to use one of their friends phones to prank call me but when I answered it was a little kid and then his sister took the phone and shes my age, well so she says. But anyway I asked who it was and when she told me her name I told her I guess she had the wrong number but she told me to wait and not hang up. So about after 10 minutes she started asking me where I lived and if I would send her a picture of me and if I had a myspace and all that so I just hung up, sort of laughed it off and then felt like someone was stalking me for the rest of the week

Strangely enough this happened last evening. It was a guy who spoke in a funny accent in the local language. He asked for someone and i told him it was a wrong number. He then asked me who i was. I replied asking him which number he wanted. He read out his number. I repeated the question and he asked me my name again. This went for a couple of minutes, till he read out the number and it turned out to be mine. But he still inisited that it belonged to someone else. I had to explain to him that he got it all wrongly memorised. This whole conversation took 5 minutes since half of what he kept saying to me and i kept saying to him could not be understood by either of us.

Yeah, I had one of those business calls with a person that can't pronounce my home language worth anything! Haha. I was getting really upset because I couldn't get what exactly she wanted from me. It sounded like she might be from my local bank, so I put up with it for as long as I did because I thought it might be in regurds to argument that I had with the bank. Haha, but I kept asking her 'what?' and she kept acting like I was just so stupid that couldn't get what she was saying. I finally hung up on her rather rudely because I was so sick of her attitude over it. I started ranting afterwards that I was BORN speaking my language and so I know when it's spoken correctly or not. Haha. But, then the guy I was seeing at the time reminded me that from her point of view I am the stupid one because I don't speak more than one language. Haha. He has a point.

Before I moved I would get a call from some older lady for Maxine at least once a week. She would always say, "Sh!t" and hang up the phone. I wonder how often she actually dialed the number right.

The weirdest wrong number call came from a guy calling my house one Saturday when I was cleaning up. I answer the phone by saying 'hello' and before I can finish the word, he starts ranting in an angry tone, 'I'm stuck on the bridge because the traffic is horrific and I don't think that I am going to make it to lunch on time. I'm sorry.' I said, "I'm sorry that this is happening. But, you have the wrong number." He became more upset and said, "Oh great! Now I just wasted more time. Man, this is not my day!" and he hung up. Hahaha. I laughed about it, but I felt bad too. He really was having a bad day.

Poor guy! Haha. My best friend told me about a call she received in which a little boy was like 'mommy, can I spend the night at jimmy's another night!' Hehe. She said she told him it was the wrong number and hung up. I told her I would have said 'sure honey!' and hung up. To which she informed me that if it was an older kid she would have too. Haha. Am I the only one that ever thinks to get weird right back with these people? Must be!

I found out that my phone number is one digit different than the one for storage rentals. It took awhile to figure it out though. I kept getting calls asking how much to rent a space. I couldn't understand what they meant, since I wasn't renting a room here. One caller said how large are your spaces? I was especially confused with that one until he said well isn't this the storage office? In my last city we had some old cemetaries that had some really beautiful statues. Apparently a guy with my same last name gave public tours of the place. Didn't know that either until I started getting calls asking when my next tour of the cemetary was going to be. Sometimes I'd get messages on my answering machine asking when they could see the headstones, or if I'd do a speech about cemetaries or statues. But, by far the strangest was when I was getting calls from a family who thought I was their daugther in law. Apparently their son and daughter in law had the exact SAME names as my husband and I. I couldn't convince these people that we weren't their family! This went on for weeks and started to get really creepy. Finally I had to have a representative of the phone company call them. They finally realized their error and apologized to us. Yep, I've had some really weird calls.

I get them all the time. There is a grocery store here that is one number different from mine. I have got so many calls that I just automatically give them the store number now. I'm going to have to see of they'll put me on the payroll for directing calls!

Yeah, at my parent's old house they seemingly had the old number of someone who's last name was Hardee. So, my family was always having to say 'no they don't live here anymore.' or 'no this isn't their number anymore' Haha. Well, my rather creative little sis decided that it would just be too funny to start messing with these people, so when she answered the phone to someone she didn't recognize on the caller ID she would be all like 'Hello, this is Hardee's how can I take your order!' Hehehe. People would get really confused.

LOL.. Well it was a decade ago. When a pizza store called and inform me that there's a pizza delivery on the way at our house. That was creepy coz on that exact moment, It's just me on the house and everyone was out the whole day. I infrom the customer service that it's a wrong number but she mentioned the address and it was our very exact address. But anyway, she was able to contact the pizza boy and was able to cancel the order.. Screw the one who call them to deliver a pizza in our home.. lol
