When you are allergic to chickens, does it mean you are allergic to eggs too?

Too many debates going on unto which came first, the egg or chicken. So i modified it a bit and turn it into a whole different question. So if you're allegic to chickens, then are you allergic to eggs too?

I don't think so. My cousins' kid is allergic to chicken. I did not know she was because that day they visited i cooked chicken stew and was about to give her till her mom says that her child cannot eat chicken because of allergy. So i said sorry, i may have to prepare another dish for her then. But i asked her if she is also allergic to egg or such. But she said to me egg is ok as long as she don't give it to her on a daily basis, maybe twice a week only. About her other allergies are something like seafood. So i think it still depends on a persons reaction to food, whether it will be good or bad.

It's ok. It's the mom's responsibility anyway not yours. No need to feel sorry.

Unfortunately for me, I am allergic to both so I really don't care whether the hen came first before the egg or vice versa. I think it's the high protein content that causes the allergic reaction. But then again, some people have different reactions to either food.

Most chicken allergies are to the feathers, rather than the chicken itself. So, if the egg has feathers, you're probably allergic to it.

Dang! Shame on you...I'm not even invited? Chared feathers may have added a nice dimension to the crispy skin on your roasted chicken. LOL. Oh well, probably just as well. I'm not sure if I could do scrambled feathers and eggs for breakfast.

I don't think so... there was a time in my life when i couldn't eat chicken without getting rashes the following day... but i am simply fine even if i eat 10 eggs everyday... i guess there is something in the chicken that triggers the rashes and that is not present in the egg...

I think the two allergeries are probably exclusive. I don't think the eggs have anything to do with a chicken allergy since eggs aren't fetilized eggs anyway. There are no chickens in the eggs when they come out.

Hubby is allergic to chicken. He usually fell itchy whenever he eats chicken but that doesn't happen when he eats eggs. So maybe it is just for chicken but not eggs though I am speaking for my hubby's experience and others may have other experience so I am only talking with what I know of. LOL. Nice topic huh. Happy Mylotting and have a great day!!!

I think the chicken came first before the eggs. My knowledge about chicken allergies didn't reach that point. I don't know about it since I don't have allergies in chicken. I could maybe have one if I can't eat chicken anymore...

Not always, my dad is allergic to the flu shot because it is cultured in chicken eggs but is not allergic to eggs or chicken in meal preparations....I know it's weird. The doctor says that it's a different application and a lot of people are allergic to shots that are cultured in chicken eggs.

hey modstar, I am not sure about being allergic to eggs if you are allergic to chickens.. but my friend who is actually allergic to chickens sometimes has the same reaction when she eats eggs like 3 times a week. so I guess it can be if eggs are not eaten in moderation... ^_^
