It dosent seem right that people who are working average stress filled jobs dont earn as much as some pop star or rock stars, I mean I have nothing against the entertainment profession, and I know that some artist do work hard, but what they do dosent compare to working in hot restaurant serving rude customers or working construction or in a steal meal or something, because celebrity's get to have fun and play make believe, and wear fancy clothes, and jewelry, and it just dosent seem right, and theres all these TV shows about who gets paid the most and bling bling this, and bling bling that, it just seems ridiculous to me, because while there focusing on that stuff, there are people in the world and in america breaking there backs to even afford the basics to live every day and I think the whole thing is kind of backward. Dose anyone else feel this same?

I know this may sound strange but I am on the side of the rock stars, film stars, sportmen and women who in appearance are earning a heck of a lot of money compared to what they actually do BUT are we really sure that we see all that they do? Most of them started off very young spending their own money to learn their profession and paying for it themselves doing a few things here and there to get some cash to buy bare neccessities. We hear about them once they are famous and have been through all the rough times when they were striving to get recognition and not earning anything. Those that make it into the high figures are only a few. They may appear to lead a jet set life but is it rally like that? They work for months on a film or preparing a tour and recording a record or in training for their sport. We don't hear about that do we? I presume they don't get paid until the film comes out and is a hit, or the tour starts and they are moving from one place to another sleeping weird hours and performing every evening. Then back to interviews one day in one town the next in another. They have no personal, private life. Some are criticised and go into breakdown stage...... I really don't think that those earning that big moneyy are overpaid at all.

I get what your saying, but now days there, so many celebrity's that aren't even that talented, I wont name them, but there making a fortune right now but they dont seem to have any real talent you dont think its a little unfair for celebs like that to earn millions of bucks?

Whose fault is it that those with no talent are famous? Surely it's us that watch their films, buy their music and go to their concerts to see them performing? If we were a little bit more choosy then those with no talent would not become the celebrities that we have made them become and then they would not be earning all that money.

You don't think celebrities work hard?!?!?! They work out for three hours everyday, have to watch every single morsel of food that goes in their mouths and had to endure years of failure and rejection before they had success. On top of that, they have to watch what they say, they get chased down by mad photographers and get stalked by crazy people. I think they are just getting what they earned! Imagine yourself as a celebrity for a moment. They are people, just like you and me. I'm not saying they are all fabulous human beings, but neither are average, non-famous people.

Well I do think that some celebrity's are hard, workers, but there are some that are not, they just made it because there pretty and the record company's help them become famous by selling an image, and making them seem more talented then they actually are, and I realize that they are human beings too, but some of them have become stuck up snops who look down on those that aren't famous like they are, yet they can make a million dollars, what about them?

I agree with you and I feel the same way. It's like they just look beautiful and they get paid with a lot of money already while the rest of us have to work hard.

Who do you think pays these people? You must of bought the product, watched the movie, read the book, listen to the song, etc. in order for them to get paid.

Well you have a point there, but what about the celebrity's that are just famouse for saying catchy ketch phrases, and standing and looking cute on the red carpet, dont get me wrong, I don't have anything against real entertainers that started there careers from the ground up, and beat the odds to live there dreams, but I think my real problem is with those celebertys that have been handed opportunity's on a silver platter only to just waste it on partying and flaunting themselves, I have a lot of respect for people like opera winfrey and other celebrity's that are using there celebrity status to help others, and they remember what its like not to have it so easy.

Hi, From my point of view, celebrity are under the scrutiny of the public eyes. They have to take more responsibility on their actions as what they do would influence the public. Whether be in in movies or commercials, they earn money from whole lots more people than other profession and hence they are paid more. The public needs entertainment to cope with stressful life and celebrity provide them. This is a win- win situation. However, I do agree that some professions such as teachers or fire fighters who risk their life for the safety of others are underpaid.

I have nothing against real entertainers, but I just feel that a lot of them make a lot of money for doing nothing, but dont miss understand me I understand that some celebrity's actually do work hard for what they earn, and I enjoy a few of them myself, but I'm mostly speaking about celebritys that, aren't really that talented, and ones that make there living by blowing kisses, and looking pretty on the red carpet.

Showbusiness isn't that easy as you think. And becoming a celebrity is a rare oppurtunity. It pays when it's rare. ^_^

Yes I defiantly understand that being a real celebrity and entertainer is hard work, but I think that a lot of celebrity's these days dont really aprecate the opportunity that they have been given, and some cant really even do what they are being paid for that well, and it dosent seem fair. and some of them dont have to do anything but show up at a night club for one night and earn $25,000 dollars, dont get me wrong I have nothing against real entertainers, meaning those who have real talent to sing, dance, and play a real instruments, and entertainers that know what its like not to have everything, given to them so easy, but some celebs today are just there to look cute and party, and they take there position for granted, believe me I know a thing or two about the entertainment industry through my dad and mom because they were once in that world. but they were nothing like the celebrity's we see today, because they are hard workers, and they play real insterments. but some of todays artist dont seem to do much, and dont seem like real artist.

i also wonder about this so many times and i can't find the answer... i also used to wonder about the athletes... they can earn so much money as well like celebrities and they don't have to work as hard as what i and my hubby are doing... we work so hard and what we get is just a measly amount of money... anyway, we try to be grateful for what God had given to us and all His blessings... take care and have a nice day...

It's because more people appreciate celebrities than hard working people! So they make money from their fans. In a way it's really unfair because they seem to have a very easy life. but I think it's tough on them too. Look how all the media attention made Britney crazy! And they have to give up the normalcy of their lives too.

Hey there! No, I don't feel the same way. I say, give credit were credit is due. Yes, some people are braking their backs at work compared to those people at the entertainment business, but these people in the industry of entertainment are working hard too to master their craft of their chosen profession. Also, ordinary people only work for one, company or something like that, and their service is only to the one they work. While those people in the entertainment business their talents reach from both ends of the world. Meaning, their service has a wide reach than those who aren't in the business of entertainment. Add to that the invasion of their privacy and private lives. It's true they work for certain production companies but, the reason why they get paid big is because of the big market that they are in. The movies that they do can go all over the world. Their CDs, DVDs, and concert goes all over the world. Their product endorsements. So I don't feel the same as you are because credit is due to them. Have a nice day. Happy posting!!

I would love to be celebrity to really understand why. Well anyway, popularity, no matter how glamorous it seems, has its drawbacks. These artists also work their way up from the bottom of the stairs. (except for some who only managed to be in showbiz because their parents are already there) Imagine the nights that they couldn't sleep because their work goes on until dawn or morning. Plus the many rehearsals, and mall shows, and motorcade, and tours, etc. Not to mention the intrigues and bad publicity. These people have their share of inconveniences, difficulties and sacrifices. So I don't wanna size them up as unworthy of the pay. I do feel sorry though for the people whose jobs are really so difficult yet earning so little.

Hi, I completely agree with your point that it does seem wrong. I guess as a generalisation people are paid based on the amount of revenue they generate. Obviously to a degree this is very idealistic as there are many people out there being blatantly underpaid for the work they do - heres a thought, we have always had a minimum wage, how about introducing a maximum wage wage that would effectively cap the earnings of the mega rich, the excess could be used to pay off the third world debt or simply given to charities. Good question though. Ian

It's all about supply and demand. As long as there are people who are willing to shell out their hard-earned cash for CDs or ridiculously overpriced concert tickets, celebrities are going to make money. I don't think that most of what they do is useful to society or worth all the $$$ they earn but hey, what can you do?

I know how you feel, but I guess they deserve a percentage of the movie or music they make, or it would just be the company getting all the more so I guess when you put all the cards on the table, the cost of the movies or whatever must be charging too much when they are making so much profit that they can afford to pay the celebs so much...;

I always wondered this as well, because I think that other people who are far more hardworking than they are, should make way more money. It is ridiculous how much celebrities get paid. Take Miley Cyrus, I don't think that she is all that talented, and yet she is making millions. Why? It just seems really unfair. What about men and women who are risking their butts to save our lives everyday? I think that doctors, police officers, firemen, people serving in the military, and people who have what are called "Hell jobs" should make far more money than they do.

some of them did go to some school and have the talents but the money I think they got paid a percentage of sales so as long as people keep buying, they will get paid and also get royalty if they receive awards of some kind they will get higher pay I don't hate them or anything I only watch movies that I like or get good reviews anyway

Its Pro Sports that erkles me. These spoiled Brats make millions while the honest middle-class working man breaks his back to earn an Honest Living. Pop stars have a tremendous influence (very often negative) on the younger generation, and are literally worshiped, while leading their adoring fans astray. The deserving people are Doctors, teachers, nurses, Health care workers, police , firemen, medical emergency people, and many more who spend their lives working to make the world a better place.

i completely agree with you and we can add professional athletes to this list as well. hard working people who do jobs that really do contribute something to society do not make nearly enough and people of privledge like celebrities and movie stars are raking it in. it is really very unbalanced but there is most likely little we can do to change it. it is a big money maker for many and unless we stop seeing their movies or stop watching tv it will stay the same. but i guess we are not going to do that are we? it is very backwards for sure!

The most important things we should know, the world is unfail actually,so,sometimes we'll learn to make less hope. The celebrity is not a simple work, there were pressure on them,so that they want to be a common person, they are keeping figure, that means you can not teset most fantastic cate, you can not get much meal, much cake, much barbucue, much chocolate and ice cream, much and much....they are keeping their perfect face, they need make-up every day....they have much pain that the all people don't know....so,the old says, what an excellent elegant style they are,you don't know that what a suffering they are behind surface. SO,don't blame everyone and everything but not onself, everybody all have excellence of themselfs. But the peopel all don't treasure the excellence they are,all says the something of someone else are best.
