Many computers are designed for a specific windows. Some are designed for windows 98, windows NT, windows XP and some for windows Vista. There are some computers which are designed for two type of windows. It is written on the front of the casing. For example, designed for Windows Xp, Vista compatible. I have a pentium II computer and it is designed for windows 98, but i update it to windows Xp. I found it working fine. Do you think that a computer designed for a specific Os must always use the os or we can change it? Will it make a conflict later? Do you think that the Os windows Xp might affect my old pentium II, which is designed for windows 98? Have you ever install Xp over a computer designed for windows Xp and experience any problem?

It is not that computers are made for certain operating systems, it is the Operating system manufactures who make the improvements to the operating systems to take into account the faster processor, Ram graphics etc that are now available. Although XP will run on a Pentium II, I did this before upgrading, it will struggle on some applications, depending on what other spec you have within your case. Have you ever tried Linux, this might work a lot better with the set up you have, I personally would recommend Puppy Linux for your processor.

The problem of upgraded your old OS in your old Pentium 11 will be running slow even you think its running good co`z of the gig of hard drive on it or most of all there was a specific compatibility of it. Mostly the Old Pentium 11 has only limited gig. So, when you install more some software in your old pc you will notice its working really slow.

Get a strip lite version of windows Xp for your old pentium II..then your pc would be fast.
