Well lets start this out by letting me tell you that I am a huge fan of cooking and baking so there for I buy tons of sugar. We usually buy about 10-25 pounds of sugar a month. So I decided to buy a container to put the sugar in. The container I bought is a plastic container with a lid. I put the sugar in there and by the time the fourth day comes around the sugar smells like it is stale or something. So I was trying to figure out what I could do to make the sugar smell like sugar. I was thinking about putting a piece of bread in there but I am not sure if it will work and plus I do not want bread crumbs in the sugar. Does anyone have any tips or ideas for me. Thanks ahead of time. Happy Mylotting

The sugar is taking on the smell of the plastic container. Not really much you can do about that. Did you wash the container really well before you used it the first time? Does the sugar still taste the same? If so I would not worry about it too much. Otherwise I would suggest getting a container made out of something else.

Well this sums it all up for me then. No I did not wash it well enough, I did a quick soap wash and that was it. Yes the sugar taste the same, here I thought maybe the sugar was not getting enough air or something. Thank You so much, you fixed the problem now I know what it is.

Try adding baking soda to the water and let the container site for a bit before rinsing and washing. Dry completely and let sit over night to finish air drying before adding the sugar.
