Top THIRTEEN?! Wasn't it supposed to be TWELVE?

I looked up the results this morning because my tivo thingy cut off the end since AI tends to overrun the time slot. I am pleased about Anoop for sure but I have a few gripes considering the judges awarded FOUR slots from wildcard instead of three, making it top 13 and not top 12. First complaint - where was MISHAVONNA in the wild card? I didn't see her there and I have no clue why the judges brought back Tatiana and Von (and a few others I didn't really think were that good compared) but not Mishavonna. Second complaint - in the other three rounds, I completely agreed with how America voted. I don't actually vote myself because I can never get through. Once they allow ALL carriers to text in votes then I can, I do not have AT&T lol. For wild card I was hoping for (in this order) Anoop, Mishavonna, and Jesse. I am not really pleased with the judges' picks because I don't like Matt Giraud really and I don't like Megan Corkrey at ALL. Granted she is young and cute but I just don't like the style of her singing. I liked her audition I think and that was it. Since then she has chosen things that while might suit her personality - do not suit what I like to see on Idol. Just my opinion, if you like her just disregard it. I did like Jasmine but do I think she was better than both Jesse and Mishavonna and deserving of a spot, no I don't. In my view I would have ditched Matt and Megan and kept Jasmine. I still have to wonder why the judges decided to award an extra spot yet give two of them to people who don't measure up to the rest of the top contestants. I guess that means I'll just get to see them go home first once the real competition starts. Do you like how it turned out or do you have your own idea of the last four... or even a different top 13 entirely?

Well, I think that there were several others who should have been given a second chance other than Megan and Tatianna, but it was the judges choice and we can't do anything about it. I personally really like Michael and Danny. I don't think there are many girls at all this year that have the talent to win the competition. Alexis Grace is probably my pick of the ladies. I was thrilled to see Anoop get into the top as I think that he is talented. I think that he stands a good chance at getting into the top 5. Adam Lambert is good too and I hope that he stays around for awhile too. I think that there is a lot of good talent with the guys this year and I can only wait to see what next week will bring. Thankfully, we don't have to see Tatianna anymore and listen to her sing the same song again!

I totally like what happened with the top 13. I think some of them wont make it very far at all. And you are right Tatiana and Von should not have came back for the wild card Ja'not should have for sure. I agree about the texting. Im a little surprised about it being a top 13 instead of 12 but it just keeps it interesting. In some ways I dont agree with the way the voting is done. Mainly because it becomes a popularity and looks contest instead of talent like it should be. If the girls think your sexy then you'll get voted far if your not the best singer. Take Jason Castro from last season for example, not that he was a bad singer but he made it further than he should have and because of that some really good singers went home early. I think america should vote but I think the judges should have the final say so in who stays and just take the voting into consideration. Just my 2 cents. Either way I am looking foward to this season and I am a really big fan of Danny.

LOL! I liked Jason Castro because he was different. I'm not usually into folksy type rock but he grew on me. It seems strange to me to say that looks do figure in, especially when the contestants are 17... I mean I have a 17 year old. I guess it IS true though. A live show does incorporate the looks factor, and it should. It was funny to see Jason's brother come to Idol this year, I was actually disappointed that he didn't make it. I like what you're saying about the voting, in some ways I do think it might be good for the judges to have the final say when it's clear a good performer is getting shafted. Of course with the popularity of the whole VFTW (vote for the worst) and the way THAT whole thing has taken over people who hate Idol anyway, I'm not sure how well it would work lol. I'm looking forward to it also, Ju'not could have replaced Matt easily... or even the FIRST Matt. I like Danny too, I look forward to seeing what he can do

LOL! I do not think looks should OUTWEIGH the talent, no way.... but I do think that things like personal stylists are important as the competition goes on. Some of the contestants are not shopgirls and wardrobe kings, so that can be part of the problem. Also, I noticed a lot of the judges telling people this year that they just didn't know what kind of artist they were, lots of them asking 'WHO are you, WHO do you want to be? Show us.' It's one thing if someone sings rock and is rockish, has that vibe, dresses that way, carries themselves that way, but when you have a girl with purple and blonde hair and she has a great voice but what she sounds like doesn't match what she LOOKS like, of course the judges (and us) might feel like she has an identity crisis lol. I was just disappointed about Jason's brother because I thought he DID have a good voice. There is actually a LOT of raw natural talent that shows up at the first auditions and it must be hard to narrow it down. The biggest problem is say you get 20 EXCEPTIONAL contestants from one venue... you know, like when they go to Jacksonville FL or whatever. Then they move on to somewhere in Texas, say Dallas. They get 20 more EXCEPTIONAL contestants. There is no guarantee that just because each group is the best of the best from their locale that they are also better than the other group, or individuals in the other group. Ahh... the judges! Paula has been a fixture on AI from the beginning. I love the play between her and Simon, not sure how much of it is candid and how much is edited but it is funny either way. Ryan Seacrest is about on par for me with Jeff Probst (Survivor) as far as annoying, they both do a great job of annoying me. Think 'AFTER...the break' and 'immunity is BACK UP for grabs'.. *snicker* I swear the two of them make quite a team with their overused phrases there. I like Kara but I don't know anything about her. Is she a singer? A producer? I know she is something in the music industry but I must be stupid or out of the loop because I thought I should know WHO she is and I don't. I do like her though, she is more like Randy than Paula and in general not like Simon, and I like the fact that we have Randy who is fair and actually offers CONSTRUCTIVE comments, Kara who does mostly the same, and Paula who stumbles a bit.... at least it balances out Simon of the nazi-nasty-destructive comments lol. I definitely do not want Paula to go away, but I'm not sure how many more years this show can continue. I guess indefinitely because there are so many people who want to get on it lol.

You and I are very much on the same page its quite funny to me. You are so right about Ryan, I honestly have never seen survivor so I cant agree or disagree with your comparison. But Ryan's AFTER...the break has gotten so old. Not that I can think of another way to do it but it is very annoying. Kara is a song writer if I'm not mistaken. Or at least something more along those lines. They said it on the very first day I think but they only talked about it briefly. I think the show will go on for as long as its rating allows it to. They can allows find talent so I think that is safe its just how long can they keep it interesting enough to draw people to it. I honestly did not start watching it until last season, but that has a lot to do with me work schedule more than anything. Either way I almost think if they don't keep Paula then it wont stay much longer. I only say this because she has so much personality and such a big fan base that I dont think Randy, Simon, and Kara could keep it interesting enough. At least thats my thoughts If shes not there next year I might still watch it to see how it is without her. This has been really to discuss with you by the way....thanks

I am very glad that included Anoop. He is one of my favorites. I have always liked him I am also happy with the choices they made. I like Matt and Megan. I like their singing and their styles. AND Jasmine was the only girl I really liked in the beginning i am very glad she got picked..Guess everyone has their favorites but I will tell you my top choices are hands down Danny and Adam, You have seen my video of adam

LOL! I just left you a comment this time . Anoop caught my interest the first time, as did Adam. I think it's going to end up being between Danny and Adam even though there are some girls to watch. It's not like in previous seasons where you have 5 people and they are all similar. Among them this year they are so different, so many different reasons to like them so it's going to be hard to choose.

Well we should be happy that they are giving an opportunity for another young singer right. You should come and see a music show very similar to American Idol in India. You can see so much politics and partiality from the judges and because of that one singer who happens to be a wonderful singer, had to quit the show by himself.... Atleast these kind of politics is not there in American Idol.

Hmmm. I guess that I just disagree with the choices the judges made and seriously feel that America would not have chosen the way they did. I wouldn't think it was such a big deal if it was not so out of left field. Megan does not have a great voice and she doesn't really scream 'sellable' to me. Jesse Langseth did, and so did Mishavonna. I actually like Joanna Pacitti but people keep telling me that the issue there is that she KNEW the producers... so I guess you're not allowed to know people involved with a competition you want to be involved in now.

I really like Anoop too... I just feel that Jesse and Mishavonna should have made it instead of Megan and Matt. LOL! I also do not feel that if they had done 3 spots instead of 4 that would mean Anoop WOULDN'T have made it. I don't take the fact that he was chosen last as any indication that they made an extra spot FOR him. I think Anoop was a guaranteed certainty even before the judges began showing their pics for wild card.

That is funny i talked wit hso many people wh otold me they missed the ending i guess DVR is taking over more than I thought. I was surpised they took 13 and wonder if they will drop 2 next week right out of the box. This twelve seems OK i think it to early to say I do have mt favorites. I think with these shows it was more about who i did not want to get in then the ones that did.

It was those people that could somewhat sing, there were never going to sell like Carrie Underwood or Daughtry, the guy that had two names, Nick, Nathan or something. Tatinia but she did grow on me. The guy from the last group with the peircing and the headband that was in group that they made such a big deal over hollywood week.

Personally for me, I do not like the way they are doing things this year with the Show, and have not really been paying much attention to it. I just think that this show is loosing it's touch, and not sure how much of it I can watch this season. I do have my 2 Top favorites that America Voted for, and I guess I will have to watch and try to Vote to see if I can help keep them 2 in there for sure. But as for 13... This is a little odd, and I guess time will only tell if this is a benefit or a minus as well.

Well they already sent 2 home (Jorge and Jasmine) and tomorrow comes the cut for two more. This top 13 will quickly be the top 9... and THEN I think it will get harder for the voters. I'm never able to vote, I can't get thru. I might call my friend and ask her to text for me lol. They only accept from AT&T, which is frustrating.

I have to disagree with you. I love Megan and think she is a great singer. I was so happy to see her get picked to be in the top 13. I also was happy that they went to 13 and added Anoop. He is awesome and will probably go far in the competition. I don't even know who Mishavonna is, so I guess she didn't make a great impression on me. Tatianna shouldn't have been picked as a wild card and am so happy she didn't make it in the top 13.

Tatiana was nuts . I can't figure out how she made it to hollywood, and after her initial audition I don't see how the judges put up with her begging either. She DOES have a good voice, ie she can sing, but the package is not complete, she's like a few decks of cards short lol. Mishavonna was part of the second group.. ugh I can't find her audition on youtube, I was looking for it. Here is a link to a song from her http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UK6ypOif9x4

Mishavonna should have been there and also the blond girl (forgetting her name, not the country singer but the kind of awkward girl). Von shouldn't have been brought back at all. I love Tatiana's voice but I hate the drama. Mixed feelings on here. As re: the voting, it needs to be changed. From what I understand, Dancing with the Stars has found a way to limit each phone number, e-mail address, etc. to no more than 10 votes. Idol should do that too. Not right that somebody can vote hundreds of times while some other people can't (or don't). And yes, they should allow all carriers on the texting.

Are you talking about Kristen? I didn't think Kendal was terrible but not top 12 either. See, I wish I could vote online for Idol, I would. I also wouldn't keep doing it over and over and over either. I'm not into 'stuffing the ballot box' because it takes way too much time. In lieu of the online vote casting, yep, all carriers need to be accepted. I have unlimited texting, I don't see why I should be able to get in on the action!

this year season of AI is not yet shown in the philippines. cause before AI was shown here with few hours delay only. i have followed some of it. but most season i have watched are those season where there were filipino contestants in the final 12. the last one i had watched was when Marielle Malubay was in. i know her career didn't pick after that contest. i would say that there are really many great contestants. i don't know why you guys say that those picked by judges are not good enough. maybe the judges have seen some great potential from these guys over those others you were expecting to be picked. but i agree that sometimes or many times too my choice would be a better choice and that AI will have higher ratings if they will or have chosen my pick .

Ramiele? I really liked her . I liked Sanjaya too though... hehe. Not everybody gets a nod from a record producer or talent scout but many of them do, so I think AI is a great tool for exposure for people who are trying to break into the recording industry. Sometimes I think that it's just as good if you DON'T win but make say.... top 6 or whatever because the contract with AI is very strict, I don't think you get much creative control. I could be wrong, don't quote me, but I think people who get more creative control usually own more of the whole thing than the record company, and it's just not slanted that way for an idol contestant. It's not meant to be, and I do think most of the contestants know this and accept it before signing on for the contest.

As far as saying the wild card picks are 'not good enough', I say that in reference to who WASN'T chosen by the judges and in one case who wasn't even IN the wild card pool to begin with. I'm not saying they were not GOOD, but in comparison to a few more deserving contestants, no, they were NOT 'good enough'. Like I've mentioned before, it is a package. Can they sing, yes, but are they marketable? Do they blow you away? Do you want to see more? Would you buy an album? Would you go to a concert? This is what I'm talking about. Just because someone can sing on key and likes to sing does not mean they fulfill those other things.

Well, I think you should be happy that they gave out an extra one - because the extra one was Anoop! It was very shocking and I was happy about it. I am VERY glad Tatiana didn't get in, but I wish they had not given her the chance...she has had enough chances and its time to let her go. I'm pretty wary of Megan...she is just not my type of singer and I don't see her being my favorite. I haven't really attached myself to anyone just yet, I will just keep watching and when it really gets into the competition I will be able to choose my fave.

That's what is so odd. I figured Anoop would be the FIRST one picked and was totally shocked when they chose Jasmine, Megan, and Matt. I didn't think that they were picked in order, they just had four spots... although all the viewers thought initially there were only three. I guess that I like Jasmine MUCH more than Megan, but I still don't see anything special about Matt. I don't actually like the other Matt that much either lol. I have several favorites, and I base it on their likeability as well as raw talent, confidence, and showmanship, because a live competition is about all of it, not just one.

As long as Tatiana didn't make it, I'm happy. I was disappointed that they even gave her another chance. I really like Anoop, and I'm glad he made it. I must admit that this early in the competition I have a hard time remembering names and what they sang previously. Megan's songs are not my style of music. I am sure I will develop some stronger opinions once this competition between the 13 gets underway.

I cheated! I always go check americanidol.com to get information so I don't type the wrong names or misspell or otherwise appear to be an idiot . See, I did like Megan's audition, her original one, although I still don't like that style of music. I really dislike that song 'girl put your records on' and also I don't like to hear most people try to sing 'black horse and the cherry tree' although I do like the artist who sings it. I'm just not into folksy and blues, and that's the style of songs like that. To me that isn't relevant, current, etc. When I think of relevant and current, I think of stuff I hear on hits on sirius, or alt nation, or the highway (new country). As far as I'm aware, there is not even a chart for folk and blues lol.

Well I also was one of millions that just found out about the top 13 thing a few minutes ago by singing on to Yahoo! I am just SOOOO glad that silly Tatiana is gone for good, and the shame of it is, that she was brought back to the Wildcard Round because she's a drama queem, and people who were better should have been able to show us some of their wonderful talents, rather than listening to Tatiana sing the same song all over again! I definately think that Mishavonna should have gotten another chance. My other fave was Felicia, from the last round, and I certainly would have released Tatiana and Von to get another cahnce to see those two one more time. I think it is a good season, all things set aside. I look forward to seeing the top "13" from this point on, as I am a big fan of Danny, Alexis, and Adam! To be honest, I really would not have wanted to be a judge this year at all! The talent was really big, and all very unique, so it must have been tough to make the final cuts for Wildcard Round! I think in the top 13, Michael will be the first to go. He is very sweet, but it doesn't seem like he has the talant of the others to stand out in this competion. Unfortunatley, I don't think that Jasmine is going to be the nest Jordin Sparks and go all the way, either. She's good, but not seasoned enough to stand up to Lil Rounds, who peole better not overlook, because she put on the best preformance off all of the top 13 put together!

Hehehe! Oh yes, the final curtain on the Tatiana Show-Soap-I-WAS-born-to-sing... YES. LOL! I don't see anything wrong with her getting an offer to sing or act or something, but studio, nothing live please and thank you. At least she can be edited so she APPEARS halfway normal. Live shows cannot be edited! Thanks for the nod on Mishavonna. I loved her... I loved her original audition, and the background that she had tried last year and then gotten cut before hollywood, and her second chance this year. She seemed so seasoned and professional already, I hope maybe somebody saw her and will offer her something just based on what they heard. I didn't actually watch the episode with the last round of performers, I only saw the clips when they were doing the votes for the last group before wild card, so I may be the only one who didn't actually see Felicia Barton sing. I remember being kind of let down by the last group of contestants, the best ones were in groups one and two (in my opinion) except for Lil and Scott - and what do you know, who gets chosen but Lil and Scott lol. What I love about this group is that they are so unique, for instance when I think about some of the girls, I enjoy them for different reasons. Alexis is so different than Allison, and she is very different from Lil. It's going to be hard to make a choice because it's like choosing an apple or an orange, there is nothing 'the same' about any of them. I could say the same about Danny, Adam, and Anoop for instance. I love them all, but for very different reasons. I wouldn't have wanted to judge either, talk about tough choices. Lil is easily much better than Jasmine, but she's a little bit older and maybe more seasoned, and it shows.
