the DXDIAG command should work as long as you have direct x running on the machine. The question you ask about speakers why would it matter what sound card you have the better speakers you buy the better the sound will be. If you are talking about changing your soundcard then you can change the out put. But any speakers should work and the more you spend the they will be.

Thanks so much for telling me that!!..I found some speakers on a yahoo shopping site and wanted to make sure I was making the right choice ordering them. I thought that certain speakers could harm my computer..the direct x is running and everything is fine..now I know I can go ahead and get those speakers!

You can get all information about your compute by going to dxdiag box. To go there, Go to start - Run - type dxdiag and press enter You will get all the information regarding your computer. Have a nice day

I got to that part...so I'm guessing what I am looking for is under the sound tab..I got there and don't really know which one would be the name of the sound card...
