l have a few friends who always likes to put their trust and believe in whatever they do, in fate. They said everythings that they can achieve in their lives are based on their fate. They also said their meet their other halves are also depends on fate. How truth can this fate be?

Fate, destiny etc. are the reflection of the weaker mind. I do not believe in fate that way that other people do. For me work is worship and as you worship you are likely to get something in return. We call it "Karma" ( work ) is the weapon to change the direction of the fate thing too.

I believe 80% of what happens to us is fate. But We rule how it goes. I mean we have free will . There are many ways how Anything could go so we choose the path and then our fate kicks in.

I think of G-d as a master chess player and we are just novices. So for every move we make He has an counter move.So once we make a step on our path , the fate we have joins us.

i beleive more in fate then anything else, right place right time, people you know as opposed to first time meetings. I think all of these are how breaks are made in this world. Hard work and determination works only part of the time but having an inside track or being at the right place and right time will take you pretty far.

One can believe that it is possible to counter with fate. Everyone might have the star of happiness that shows the way both day and night. It is sad if people stop being interested in happier future and think that they are doomed to failure, if they consider there cannot be any changes made because it is a destiny.
