I used to take birth control pills, my bf told me to stop taking it since it going to be bad for my health and he is away. We don't want to have a child soon... is it really bad for a woman's health?

i dont know if its really that bad but mostly people i know said it does give harmful effects to our body. ive tried it when i cant have my menstrual period. i have an abnormal or hormonal imbalance. and taking pills helps eliminate and push out the bad blood inside me.

I use to take birth control pills and I had no complications. The best person to tell you if the pills are good or bad for your health is a doctor. I would question why does your bf think taking birth control pills bad for your health?

My doctor told me what will be the complications that I might experience in taking pills but no problems with it really. I don't know why he said its bad for me, my mother is also telling me that its bad for my health.

I have not heard of unhealthful birth control pills but I could not rely on my personal experience because I don't take them. I am still skeptic about it because it might mess up my reproductive system... Thanks for the response on my discussion!

There's so many pills to choose from. There so many benefits of pills to woman's health. Before you buy one consult a doctor first. My doctor prescribed me to take pills because of my irregular period. I take it for 3 weeks now it has no side effects on me.Try to research what pills suits for your condition then ask a doctor before you try.

There is a huge list of side effects but there is a huge list of side effects for all medicne. I love my birth controll, I take the Depo shot. It is every three months. I have been on it for 6 years and it works. What is unsafe is if he comes home early and you are not on birth controll. It will not hurt you at all. My sister started taking the pill at 16 because she has cycts and the pill helps to prevent them. If you do not like the pill then talk to your doctor about other methods that you might like better. Have a great day

Birth control pills, is not bad at all but it does have side effects on a woman's body, that's what I know about this. My mom is a nurse and she said one of the side effects of these pills is that, you'll gain weight and be short tempered but some of my friends can attest that if there's one side effect that these pills do, it's gaining weight in such a short period of time.

i dont think it is bad for your health but make sure that when you decide to have kids you should stop taking pills for at least 6 months to one year before you make a kid....there are rumors that birth control pills can make a child gay so just to make sure dont use pills when you decide to have a baby

Your boyfriend has a point - if he's away then you won't be needing it so you can just stop using it for now. As of having a negative effect on your health, I'm pretty sure that the more established brands of birth control pills have passed the proper health tests required by the government. If you're concerned, however, I suggest you make sure that you consult your gynecologist about it - they'd know more than we would :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I have consulted a gynecologist before I start taking contraceptives.... the ob-gyne gave me different options with contraception including its negative effect but I still choose the pill instead. You are right, maybe through time the pill has been modernized as well and more useful to women's health.

I know I feel the same way. I am scared of taking strange pills anyways. I feel like this, any pill that has the power to stop nature, has to be dangerous or have some serous side affects to it. This is just my option.

What I know is that your doctor probably has prescribed to you the right pill, after some exams, and so it can't hurts you... Usually it is like this!
