I've been thinking about taking the family to Washington DC this spring. I really want to go see the famous cherry blossom trees there. Has anyone ever been there in the spring? If so, where did you stay for your trip? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

When we visited New York City we were able to stay just outside the city for about half price. Check with the Hotels and see if there are trains or buses that runs often into the city and are close to the motel. I was in Washington DC twice. Both times I had difficulty finding parking and spent over half of my time driving around looking for a spot and then having to walk several blocks to find my party. I did not get to see much of it other than what I saw driving.

That sounds like a wonderful trip! I was there two different times when D.C's Cherry blossoms were in bloom. It was so pretty and made for some great memories, as well as pictures. I don't remember where we stayed, somewhere just outside of D.C. itself. If I remember correctly, it cost far more to stay in town itself, and that's why we chose the outskirts. Here's a great link to the Washington DC organization. (It's their official tourism site) It's got around 100 free things to see and do while you're visiting. (Nobody said a vacation has to cost an arm and a leg lol) You might find motel/hotel ideas there too. It's so pretty in the spring, I know you and the family will just love visiting there! http://www.washington.org/

You're right - it is expensive there. I've been checking some hotel rates and almost fell off my chair when I saw the prices. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

Hi Shar19.. Nah, I havent been there. Given a chance I will probably spend the spring too in washington dc, not only to see the cherry blossoms but to see all the famous spots. One of my dreams is to visit the Amsterdam and see their beautiful and famous spots especially the very famous tulips. I saw my friends pictures when they went their, it was very splendid. Hope you have a nice trip this coming spring.
