Hi and hello there, MyL0tters! ^_^ Does your mom or dad use to give you a cup of warm or hot milk before sending you off to bed? Is it a good idea to help you sleep better? How does it work? ^_^ Happy MyL0tting! ^_^

Hello! Yes warm milk has its effect on our health. If you drink a glass of warm milk added with a spoonful of honey will help you sleep fast and improve your memory. It also detoxifies your body with no side effects. So we advise our children to drink daily a glass of warm milk added with honey.thanx.

I do agree. My parents had the habit of giving me warm milk before I go to sleep when I was a kid. I do believe that it really works. More than that, milk contains a lot of nutrients that is surely good for the body.

my mom never gave me milk (because i'm lactose intolerant) :) i read that it's the calcium in milk that relaxes us that makes us fall asleep. so, it does work.

There are those who say it is more psychological than anything else. There are two chemicals in milk that could help you relax except that they are in minute amounts.

Hot milk has always grossed me out. I can't drink it, blech. I usually drink a cup of chamomile tea before bed-time. I also take some melatonin and spray my pillow with Bath & Body Works aromatherapy pillow mist. I used to have a lot of trouble falling asleep and staying asleep, but these things have helped. I don't know if it's because they actually help me get to sleep, or if the regular habit of doing them right before bed is what helps.

I heard it is better to take milk two hours after super and one hour before sleep. Two hours after supper is to help digesting the milk, and one hour before sleep can avoid swollen eyes. If you are afraid of getting fat, you can have supper a bit earlier. Anyway, milk is good for sleep, and unlike some pills, whose effect gets weak as times goes along, milk is said to have stable effect.

I had trouble sleeping lately, and i post a discussion asking help from mylotters what to do when you cant sleep. And most of them says warm milk before bedtime is good. i tried that last night and i also had a warm bath, its effective. I am happy with the results, actually i want to maintain it so i can get better and sound sleep. I know sleep is very important.I noticed that when i get a good sleep, my mood is ok, and i dont have anxiety. I am keeping a journal for this, i call this " my sleep journal". Happy mylotting!

My mom does this, but I have never tried it. However, I have had warm milk and toast when I've had the stomach flu, and it definitely helps settle my stomach so I can get to sleep better.

I had a cup of warm milk yesterday, the effect? I SLEPT THE WHOLE DAY. My teacher once told us that the reason why milk can make you fall asleep is because of the amino acid called tryptophan, which converts melatonin and serotonin that are believed to induce sleeping.

i have no idea if it does or not ive never really drunk that stuff before going to bed i just grab a drink of water and off i go but i suppose it does because milk has certain relaxation ingrediants and maybe they are triggered by warmth or something but i have no idea im just chucking random ideas out there

Lol... that's a blast from the past for me, my friend. Yes, my Mum often gave us a mug of hot milk before bed when we were kids. I sometimes have one now if I need to wind down before bed, but I don't have full fat milk these days... just skimmed. It still tastes good though and takes me back to the times my Mum used to make it for us all. Brightest Blessings.

Yes, warm milk really does help you go to sleep. Notice how most mothers feed their babies warm milk from a bottle? It's a natural sleep inducer. I think when you warm the milk, it creates a accidic reaction (like in turkey) that makes you feel tired. I am not sure if it helps you to sleep better, but it does definitely help you get to sleep. If you can't bear the thought of drinking warm milk, try warm milk and toast...it's like a cereal and it's really good.
