Does your cat love you?

Do you think cats are capable of the emotion called love? Can cats express love? Can a cat feel love for another person or cat? My personal opinion is that cats can feel love. I think my cats love me. I love them. So why wouldn't they love me? But, cats are animals so I'm not really sure what their capacity for love would be. My cat rubs up against my leg and I think that he loves me, but he's just asking for food or affection. My young female cat adopted a kitten last year and cared for him as if she were his mother. She would clean him and play with him as if she were a mom. It was a beautiful sight. And, the motherhood experience changed her from a wild cat to a very loving and nurturing cat. I think she really loves the kitten. Or, maybe it's just nature causing her to act this way. What's your opinion? Can cats feel love?

I think when it comes to humans, cats show affection, rather than love. They show trust and dependency, and they will want to give both those qualities back to you, so I feel it's more affection than love. When it comes to other cats, or kittens, yes, I think animal instincts creat a kind of cat love. Animals will always care for their own. It's the only way they know how to survive. I know some animals barely rear their young before chucking them out of the birth home, but cats and dogs do tend to have an ongoing love for their own, especially the young of the species. Brightest Blessings my friend.

Such sweet thoughts. I'm happy to know that we share emotions with the little animals we love. Thanks for your comments. Have a blessed day.

I have no doubt that cats (and dogs, and others) feel love, worry, sadness, affection, and a full range of emotions. All you have to do is spend time with them to know that. Yes, sometimes they're asking for food, but don't they reciprocate a lot of love very promptly?

I feel the same way. My big cat always comes to me for reassurance. And, he wouldn't do that if he didn't trust me. I can really feel love coming from him. Maybe it's just wishful thinking. But I'm sure he does love me.

Hi beautyqueen26 - Of course my cat loves me... she comes when I cry, jumps up on my lap and cuddles with me. We discovered this once and now I pretend cry and she comes running. It is so funny! I say it is because she "loves" me but my husband & my teenage son say she comes because I'm hurting her ears and she wants me to stop the noise! LoL

I'm sure she does love you. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my female cat, EB, would run into the room everytime she heard a baby cry. It was so sweet! It's as if she knew a baby was on the way and didn't want to miss the big event.

Yes my cat loves me, I can tell in fact he was just sitting on my lap while I was typing I feel that he loves me very much, and people who think animals dont have feelings dont understand that most living creatures are capable of feeling love and affection, my cat sits with me a lot even if hes already full, and he purrs a lot, and he likes to play with me, and he looks me directly in the eye for a long time I can feel that my kitty loves me for more then just food because he behaves in a loving way even if hes not hungry.

I have three cats at home, they are bluei, kitty and mimi. There eyes are unique most especially kitty, her left eye is color blue while the right eye is yellow. They are all white. I used to bath them every morning but since i got married my little sis is the one responsible for taking good care of these three cute cats.

some of my cats love me, some just love the food but when they jump in your arms when you get home because they are glad to see you, and not because you have food, you have to think they love you or when they lick the strings of a zither because they are happy to see you, you have to think they love you

I most definitely believe all animals, not just cats are capable of showing love and affection, I know my two cats do, especially Pyewacket. My two cats hop on my bed as soon as I stretch out in it at night. And they keep me company the whole time I'm asleep. Pyewacket loves to cuddle up right next to me...and since I'm a stomach sleeper he often stretches over on my back and remains there...uh, I can't move an inch of course. Then when I'm just starting to wake up, Pyewacket has a habit of placing his one paw on my cheek and all the while he's purring

I think they can feel love just as much as any other animal. I think cats as well as dogs can feel all sorts of emotions. My mom's cat has always feared my son, but she loves my daughter.

I've wondered the same thing. My neutered tom is very affectionate with both my husband and me, but he seems to somewhat prefer my husband. I tell myself that is because my husband spends more time lying around in his recliner and letting the cat lie in his lap, and I'm usually busy doing something. Am I fooling myself. He's supposed to be my cat, but my husband is the one who picked him out at the animal shelter.

I believe that cats do have the ability to love. Or, maybe it's just nature causing her to act this way. Being that humans are just animals themselves, maybe it is just nature causing us to act that way!!! As a matter of fact it has been proven that human love is a direct reaction to nature. I have 2 cats. They have learned that when I'm on myLot, they are to leave me alone (& they do). But let me go to the bathroom, I hear 8 little feet following me. One starts to talk to me immediately. He rubs all over me. He will sit for hours just sweetly staring at me. Sometimes he jumps up on my leg & gives me a kiss. His brother will jump on the back of the sofa & nudge my cheek & when I look at him he also gives me a kiss. Is it love??? Yes, I think so. On the other side. If my long haired cat cries, the other comes running from wherever to check & see what is wrong with him. He then licks him until he can see everything is OK & then he goes back to what he was doing. They were not litter mates, they just became best friends around 6 weeks old!!! From the human standpoint, this is considered a form of love.

I definitely think that all animals are capable of feeling emotions. But animals, just like people, are different. My cat is extremely affectionate and will push past everyone else in the room to be in front of me. I do think he loves me!

Cats most certainly do feel love I had a cat called Smokie and if my brothers or I went out he would sit on the step and howl till we came home. It drove my parent mad. When I walk down the Street I can call any cat and they automatically come to me .Cats are very good judges of people they know they evil in people . My cousin Angela had a cat called Paris and he would be in her house fast asleep the minute this girl came who I will not name. Came to the house he used to go mad scratching at her she could only stay for a short while. And years later her and my cousin fell out in a big way,. Mgraham1

I definitely think cats can feel love! WE used to have a cat named Barney when Niall was a baby and Barney could be found in direct proximity to Niall any time you were looking for him- even used to lie on the tray below NIalls pram when we went for a walk. He was very protective of Niall and if nyone that Barney did not think should be near him approached he would jump out hissing and arching his back til I told him it was ok! lol As for our Tia , I think she loves us in her own way although I do think she loves the power she has over us more! lol xxx

I believe cats feel all kinds of emotions. My Josie purrs me to sleep every night and wakes me in the morning by lying on my chest purring. My lap is never empty; she is in it. My Peaches was abused and has a hard time with affection. She headbutts everything around, but not a person. We are lucky now that we can pet her a few times.

I know that they are capable of all emotions.Right now mine is in my lap mking it very hard to type.He gets very jealous too. When me and my woman cuddle, hug, try to get close. He get's jealous, meow' really loud, get's in-between us, puts his paws on us. He just wants some love too. Our cat is very talkative. We hold conversations (me and my lady), he will get close to us, meow at us also, just like he was joining our conversation. It is very cute. He is really needy. Has to be in the lap, petted all of the time. If not, he will get his way. He will come up to you, stand up, or stick a paw on you, look at you, then start talking, until you tell him to get on your lap. We are goimg through some hard times right now. When ever my lady starts crying, he does about the same. He will get very close to her, give her an eskimo kiss, then talk to her like everything will be fine. That has to be love if I ever saw it. I do believe all animals are capable of emotions.

I have two cats, one of them I am sure shows love, he especially loves my husband. He follows him around and will cry when he leaves the house. My other cat does not show signs of affection, she basically tolerates us, but we love her. Unfortunately, they do not love each other. My male cat is always attacking the unemotional female cat, so they basically keep their distance from each other.

I do indeed think that my cat Kiki loves me! At least I hope she does. I have faound that cats have many different types of emotions, and I do believe that love is one of them! I also think they fear, because my cat runs away from my 7-year-old every time she comes near her! (Tee hee) I also used to have cats that would just follow me everywhere I went in the house and sit with me and purr, so i guess they loved me, too! Thanks for the question and have a great day!
