Because of my job,I usually sleep for less than eight hours a day. However,it is enough to me I think, since I seldom feel sleepy. On the other side,my friends are often afraid of my health. They say that lack of sleep can make us fall ill.So I hope somebody tell me which is correct.Thank you.

In my opinion it will not effect health, but I am not sure, because I am not an expert. I always sleep for less than eight hours a day. Recent years I never get ill.

Yes,I think so.But it is said that eight hours of sleep is best.So in ordor to escape from illness we'd better sleep for more time than before.

I have always heard that seven or eight hours a night is best, so I guess if you're getting at least seven, then that would be ok also. Maybe it depends a little bit on the person though, because I sometimes feel like even eight hours isn't enough for me. I usually have to have closer to nine hours of sleep to feel really well rested for some reason. I guess maybe you are just one of those people who doesn't require quite as much sleep!

less sleep is better than over sleep. remember those great people? they used to spend very little time on sleeping.

at least 7 hours. our brain needs to rest and there's the cell regeneration or renewing of cells when we sleep so if we do not get much sleep, we lose a lot of brain cells, maybe that will cause short term memory? im not really sure, i will look it up for you =)

I think it really depends on the person. Some people can manage with less than eight hours, usually six or seven. I need at least ten to feel really rested, but I barely get seven and it is never uninterrupted! I think the average is 8. I honestly agree that a lack of sleep can make us fat and irratible. I love to catch my zzzz's and feel so much better after a good nights rest.

hi beijihu, my dear friend, eight hour sleep is ideal. one should sleep for atleast eight hopurs . but i dont get that much of sleep because i am having a baby who has just turned one and she is sooooo naughty and full of energy that i am unable to match my energy with her at times. i dont think that feel tired andshe walks a lot, a lot means a lot. and she dont sleep for very long. in night also her night starts at her own time. sometimes its five in the morning sometimes two and sometimes seven. for a baby she can sleep at what ever time she wants and feel to sleep but i am all stuck because my worlk is all arranged in a fashion that when she sleeps i do my pending and daily chores. eight hours is very much essential because my doctor always advices me to take eight or if not eight atleast six seven. otherwise body will not feel relaxed . our body also need rest , our brain also need time to rest and sleep. so it is very very importanmt for us to sleep. if we wont sleep we will develop dark circles also around and under our eyes. which looks very bad.
