Well the bad part about them is the fact that you are at the "mercy" of the server owner and his buddies. Wow is a competitive game and Blizzard spens alot of time and money trying to balance the game for everyone to be happy. In this context try and immagine the server owner 1 shotting you cause his char was eddited and has unreal stats and gear :) Plus i m pretty sure it s illegal :)

i agree with u. i think the fact of the owners be a GOD in this servers nd his friends semi-gods be one of the worst things in private servers.... if u are a simple player u just sit and cry cause u can't do nothing... can u understand?nd i think it's NOT ilegal, cause EVERYBODY knows about private servers, that are online a few YEARS nd noone shut them off.

Yes Indeed. Private servers do tend to do that, but I doubt that on the big private servers (1000+ online) game masters do that, although these big private servers have some donation system (from which they make lots on money) and players just donate some $ and get themselves uberequipped which is very unfair with the other non-paying players. I don't see the point in donating for a private server. If you think of donating buy the real thing, much more fun and much more challenging. Nevertheless private servers are a good opportunity to learn the game (like I did) or kill some time (go on a instant lvl 80 server with custom items and start pew pew others ^^ )

Private servers only so that the user can envolve faster and sell itens to the players. Beyond that this business is illegal.

I think these private servers are wrong and should be closed down. They are the reasons why MMORPG are shutting down as they leech the game's content in order to steal players from the original game. I just think that's wrong.

Blizzard has already started closing private servers, and my guess is that they will close all the big ones in the near future

I think well..THEY SUCK!!Full of bugs, always crashing at the wrong moment, too fast leveling..you miss a lot of fun stuff. If you are leveling fast, you don't need to do dungeons or raids until you are 70 or 80(and then you do it because of the boredom that strikes you).I played on toxic, after it closed i played on wowscape...and when i had no more patience left for more bugs, and crashes, and half hour of loading screens...i went and got the original game, with the prepaid card. Blizzard also has a few issues to solve, yes, but still...i enjoy it better.So...*beep* those servers (lol) and go play on Blizz. You will love it. Cheers!

I agree I think the private servers are worthless and you are at the mercy of hte server owner which totally sucks. There are so many bugs and what not that just make the game worse and I just ended up quiting for a while because it was pointless to me.

I am a person that can only play on private servers, since I'm kind of cheap, and I don't want to pay $15 a month for a game. Some servers are actually high quality, where the admin and game masters act professional and try to help out with quest bugs, or just glitches.

Private servers break all of the real WoW's violations however they are not stopped. I personally think that other people making money of others by doing their private server "special sword" and stuff is unfair. Also starting at level 80, or leveling really fast is no fun at all and because of this, you will soon get bored and stop playing for quite a while. The real WoW, even though you need to pay for it, will always be the best "type" of WoW that you can play. I feel sad though for those who can't afford to play.

Many of the private server players head for retail once they got enough from private. So what do you think?

I don't see nothing wrong with it. My fiance plays this game all the time. Of course i don't understand alot about servers but why would something like that be wrong. And it may be necessary. THere usually is a reason for something like that.

private servers are only for those people who wants fast track of an experience for their characters, for those that wants to explore faster of the characters and their job classes, because the privateserver already edits the points and talents of the characters. Privateservers are good if you want to see all skill and spell for job classes.

There's a lot wrong with it. Blizzard developed the game, and owns all the rights to it so they should earn what they put into it. The private servers didn't do anything, other than learn how to set up a server. It's very very wrong, but when I'm bored with leveling on regular I admit I do occasionaly go to them to have a bit of fun and see if I can get banned.
