Maybe because they are not satisfied with his/her original partner. Or maybe, like in the movie of Judy Ann and Ryan, he wanted to taste something new to be added in his menu list.

Two timing usually happens when he/she has found something on someone which his/her partner is lacking. Like for example, when the guy has a very good sense of humor while her partnes hasn't, then it would provoke her to explore more on that guy until she finds something more, again, until she finds the guy a lot more interesting than her partner. Two time, because she'd want to keep both of them. Legally, morally, pressure. Those are the three factors which prompts her to keep her original guy.
