The best motivation to exercise....... trying on something you want to fit into!

I've been trying to motivate myself to get back into shape all winter. Finally i figured out what makes me motivated. Thinking about being healthy doesn't motivate me. Thinking about living longer - nope! Those are nice side effects but not my motivation. Instead what motivates me is thinking that I want to look GOOD in a few dresses I plan to wear to weddings this summer. Everytime I start to think "i'll exercise tomorrow" and everytime I start to get lazy - I put the image in my head of me looking awesome in a dress and end up getting right off my lazy butt for at least a few minutes of exercise :) Does looking good motivate you? Or do you have other motivation factors?

as you said the looking good part is the motivation but as i am a guy...other than just being fit i want to be stronger,i hate to see myself skinny and weak.so the thirst to be stronger gives me the motivation to go to the gym everyday. I am a big fan of wrestling...just the site of my favorite athletes gives me the urge to go and workout as hard as i can. But even if you get any kind of motivation..it is only for a short time, the real thing is to get the perfect mindset.one must realize what he is doing and why.when you get the reason there will be no stopping you.

This doesn't work for me at all, unfortunately. I have several pairs of pants shoved away in the back of my closet that are deemed my "skinny jeans" although have not motivated me very much to continue thorugh with my diet. I've just recently starting running again (much to my dismay..ugh), and I'm realizing that it's more than just about looks (which I used to obsess over & would cause me to be super-motivated). I just want to be strong and physically capable and healthy! So, I think we're on opposite ends of the spectrum, here.

Well anything that motivates and works for you is great! I think recently the clothing thing motivates me b/c there are no ifs ands or buts about it, I gotta get dressed up for these 2 weddings. usually if I didn't feel in shape I would just wear something bigger or pants or something, but I have no choices for these weddings so I gotta get my but in gear! Overall I do want to be healthy and strong and live long, but those are all really just side effects right now.

Dear Viva You may be right in your own ways but we must decide once and for all why we want to lose weight in the first place. I am sad to say you are 'putting the cart before the horse' You should lose weight because you choose to do so for better reasons. As for myself I exercise joyfully by playing one or two 'nines' at my golf course. Challenging oneself with the course is a safe way to exercise. It's 'win-win' game! By the way, golf is 'King of All Sports' if I may say so. OK? Thanks.Love: Bro. Joe. GBU
