When hot summer arrives, we usually resort to some cooling, like staying at home, or going for a dip on the beach, hanging out in the mall, or going for a refreshing drink. As our body becomes hotter during this times, the need to increace fluid intake arises, we usually resort to refreshments like soda drinks or fruit juices. Many of us prefer drinking soda, while others like juicers better. How about you, which of them would you drink, fruit juice or soda drinks?

I prefer only fruits and fruit juices rather then any kind of soda or carbonated drinks, i prefer eating fruits more then juices even because juices contain more amount of water and a fruit you can eat as it is. I feel very cool consuming lots of different variety of fruits, i never prefer soda drinks because i cant drink them in the first place.

Fruits are good for your health as they say. Besides being fresh and healthy. what are the benefits of eating fruits Gaya, can you share some of your ideas of it. What vitamins and minerals can we get from them, and why are these vitamins and minerals important to us. If you don't mind me asking why can't you drink cola or soda drinks Gaya. If fruit juice was not available i will prefer drinking soda to remove the thirst.I will prefer fruit juice over soda.It is very health y and nutritious for the body.It also keeps us energetic and active during the day.Lime juice is very good to drink as it cools the body very fast.

I find that green tea helps me to lose weight because it keeps me from getting too hungry. it is also healthy for you. i like it with some fresh lemon in it.

I actually prefer tea year round however I love juice and would pick juice over soda any day! Then of course in the summer I love to drink water as well!

I think we need to drink a lot so our body stays hydrated. When it's warmer out we sweat more and we need to replenish what were losing!

Well, I think it would be better to take cold fruit juice. Aside from it serves as refresher, that would also be healthy for us. Specially that summer makes us prone to some summer diseases such as cold, so this could be a remedy to prevent from those diseases. May all of us enjoy this summer.

Hello Simple, yes definitely we can catch so many diseases during summer. I wonder what these disease are that you mentioned. Earlier you said colds, why do you think colds can also affect us during summer, what i know is colds can come only during rainy days. Can you share to us how can we prevent getting colds. do you know any remedies to fight colds if we suffer from it. Thanks for you response.

Thanks for the great information you shared Simple. Yes, common colds or allergis rhinitis usually occur anytime or any season. Your right, that when a person with a weak immune system can readily be affected by it. I was just wondering what causes a person to have a weak immune system. Are there ways we can boost our immune system to prevent further infections? Can u enlighten as a bit about this, Simple. You mentioned pneumonia to, what is this disease. Can it make your immune system weaker? what are the symptoms of this sickness. Thanks for you response.

Speaking of colds, it is not usually occurs during rainy season, actually colds is not seasonal, that is based on my experince ha? During summer, when you perspire a lot and you just let it got dry specially on your back mostly when facing back at electric fan, specially if you have weak immune system, it could start as mild but when it comes to worst, probably leads to pneumonia. Better yet, lets just take care of ourselves, prevention is better that cure, right?

Soda is not a good choice nor are sports drinks both have bad stuff, among them corn syrup and chemicals that deplete calcium and cause health related problems from diabetes to cancer and bone loss. Diet soda's are anything but and most sodas can cause intenstial problems, ulcers and other problems. Sports drinks can do the same and aspertaime on hot days if warmed up can become lethal. Fruit juices are better but not the best either they can cause weight gain and diabete my first choice and primary one is Water right out of my well. It is clean, cold and pure and very satisfying on a hot day. Second occassionally I might make some sun tea with honey. At times I might for a variety have a glass of V8 or a cold glass of apple juice or apricot juice and even better a cold glass of buttermilk or milk. All much healthier than soda and fruit drinks or sports drinks.

i prefer fruit juices of course cause they are more refreshing to my throat and i feel my thirst is quenched when i drink juices. but when i drink soda i don't feel satisfied quite like i feel when i take juices specially natural juices and not just powdered juices. but it is just quite expensive to buy juices outside like fruit shakes or smoothies. so i can't make smoothies at home i just buy outside when i have time to buy and when i have money. but i home i have just have time to make my own fruit juices and not smoothies. i enjoy taking them in very hot summer days and also when i eating food. cause they are perfect combination to take them with heavy meal. i love the lemonade cause they are good to my or our skin. they are good way rehydrate our body.

I actually prefer plain water every single time! But I also do like a nice cold drink of fruit juice when the weather outside is really hot. My fave is probably orange juice but I also like blackcurrant juice and like a bit of tropical juice every now and again too!

i prefer fruit juice but only when it is made at my home or made it at my relative or friend home because the ice or the glass and juicer which used in market is always dirty and many times when i drink it at market i get ill so when i am in market i eat directly fruits rather then juice and drink some bisllery water rather then soda.

It is really a problem today about contaminated water. There are so many places around the world that has a problem like this. What could be the main reasons why are water resources are contaminated easily. What could be the dangers when we drink contaminated water. Does water count?....lol..That would be my choice..but if I cant have it, then I would like a nice fruit juice, mixed with fruit, maybe even yogurt...Ok a fruit smoothee made with juice?...If not, how about lemonade or apple juice? I am not a soda drinker, I do not like carbonated beverages. I will however drink certain ones if I am really thirsty but none of the colas

I prefer fruit juice shakes or fruit juices that are ice-cold. Aside from it can quench your thirst and helps cool down your body, it is also healthy.

When the temperature of the body is high in summer season, whether from the effects of the sun , it is necessary to take regular lemon juice drinks in order to prevent dehydration. with lemon, although there is no doubt that the addition of honey if available is very much to be preferred.The juice also contains vitamin c. i don't prefer either one. my favorite drink is iced tea w/lemon. i drink it the year around & alot more in the summer. i do drink a diet coke if i'm out somewhere & am thirsty.

Hi agmamayo, i feel that nothing is more refreshing than a glass of cold water. But there are other drinks which are equally cooling and help one beat the heat. Other than fruit juice , i like Sugarcane juice and buttermilk ( diluted yogurt) and a drink called Panna which is made from half ripe mangoes. It is one of the most refreshing and healthy drinks...

Hi, i drink cola too and i love lemon soda...Panna is prepared by boiling the semi ripe whole mangoes in water and then filter the drink and add jaggery and rock salt to it. It is then cooled either in the fridge or kept in an earthenware pot to cool. This is a delicious drink that most Indians make during summer months..

Thanks Kiran for sharing some information about Panna. That could be a good healthy drink indeed. Speaking of mangoes, I just came to mind that fruits are good sources of Vit. C. Mangoes do have it, but some people say that the more sour the mango is the more Vitamins it contains. What do you thinks of this idea Kiran. I was told by my doctor that we don't realize how much water we lose in a day. It's best to keep drinking to always keep your body hydrated. I try to drink as much water as possible just for this reason. I've known people who have gotten terrible headaches as a result of dehydration.

I'm no doctor but I believe that you can die as a result of that - it's another way of losing water and you can become severely dehydrated. If you're experiencing something or know someone who is, you should definitely see a doctor!

I prefer plain water but if I have to choose between soda and fruit juice, I would juice.In India we have other options like having water from tender coconut or buttermilk.Both are tempting and very good for health too.

Hi again!Tender coconut water has delicious taste and is very nutritious too besides quenching thirst and rehydrating the body.It promotes proper digestion , clears the urinary tract and lubricates the body system.It is low in fats but contains many vitamins and is high in minerals like potassium ,chloride ,calcium and magnesium.It is also rich in antioxidants.It has positive effect on cholestro and prevents artherosclerosis.The list of its benefits is endless.I think it is rightly called 'the water of life'. Buttermilk in India traditionally is the left over liquid after the butter has been churned from the curd and sometimes diluter.Flavours can be given by adding ginger or cumin seeds.It is delicious and healthy and low in calories too as the butter has been removed.It has all the benefits of milk with low calories and much easily digestible than milk as it is a fermented product.

Soda drinks are not good for your health whether it is summer or not. To keep cool in summer you should drink lime water, dissolve fennel seed in water and add sugar to it. Its the best drink in summer.

Interesting indeed Jamin, cola drinks are only rich in calories which are readily absorbed by the body. But they are just empty calories, they really dont last long and cannot really quench your thirst. The seeds you mentioned are quite interesting, as you ahve mentioned they are very nutritious and has good health effects. Are they used for medicines too, Jamin. Do they have some ingredients that can really help in treating some diseases. What are the other uses of these seeds. Where exactly in India can we find it. Thanks for your response.

Fennel is a type of spice in India and its seeds are used as mouth freshener or in cooking. It has great nutritional value. You can read the details through this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fennel. You asked me why do you think Soda is not good for us. Do any of the cold drinks contain such high nutritional contents. It just relieves you of thirst and has great taste. But it does not cool your body from inside. If instead of cold drinks you drink drinks prepared from fennel seed, you get high nutrition, your body gets cool from within, it also cures many diseases. I used to drink cold drinks earlier, but then I realized it is completely useless for my body, so I gave it up. I now drink such healthy drinks. For the drink you should take 4 teaspoon fennel seeds( also known as variyali in India) and 3-4 blocks of Rock Sugar and deep it in 3 glass of water.
