Hi there, I have been wondering wether or not I should write a book about serial killers, which I have been intrested in and have read many books about serial killers. I have been wanting to write a book about serial killers and put it on the web as an e-book or get it published. I was wondering what anyone else thought about this? thanks

There are plenty of book about serial killers so you need to go from a different and unique perspective. What that would be is up to you. Just don't write a "how-to" book. I would do some research before doing anything. Write and get some feedback. Do you belong to a writing forum? I'm a moderator on one. If you're interested I'll give you the link. Our group is strictly adults so content is not censored. Let me know.

I was just curious why you said do not write a how to book? I have thought about writing a how to book and I want to know why you would think it is a bad idea?

I wonder why you wanted to write a serial killer e-book? If that's what you really want, go for it, is your book nobody needs to tell you what to do or what not to do. I am thinking about writing a book but not e-books. To my understanding, ebooks are about how to do things, say make money online, cook, etc. Not about stories, I could be wrong, as I don't know nothing about writing ebooks.

You could do that but I don't think I would ever want to read it. I am not interested in serial killers. You could write a book about computers and computer languages and I might read it if I find it. There are so many books out there competing for attention. Cheers!!

Serial killers are a good topic, but they've been done. I'm not sure, but I think they may be like vampires in the horror genre. They've been done and done and done. So, if you want to write your book, you might take that into consideration. However, far be it from me to EVER tell someone not to write what they feel passionate about. If you want to write a book about serial killers, than do it. You have to write what you're feeling and if that's what you're feeling, then go for it! My question would be why do you want to do it as an e-book? What is appealing about that to you? Are you thinking serializing it, like the Sherlock Holmes stories? If so, then that might be a good way to go, but start now on building a platform to find your market. E-books are an easy way to get yourself jump-started, but they're fraught with difficulties. If you do decide to do it yourself, please, please, make sure you copyright the work yourself. That means paying the government money and they issue a copyright in your name. If someone steals your work, (not likely, but possible), you'll have legal recourse. Even if you don't plan on making money off your piece, copyrighting is important to make sure you derive the credit for your work. In the end, being an author is about reputation. Write what you feel. If you're going to spend all that time staring at piece of paper, computer screen, whatever, then you might as well be having some fun.

Is it going to be your first book? I would really like to read the book when it's done. Don't forget to provide the link for your e-book ... I know all myLotters will support you. Good luck
