today I heard scratching noises in my celing, we dont have an attic, but we have a trangle shaped roof, what could it be? I am guessing its time to call an exterminator....What do u think it could be?? Have u ever heard scratching noises in your ceiling?

Hello stacyv. I think that it could be a rat that was making the scratching sound in the ceiling since you have a triangle shaped roof. I remember when I lived in an house more than ten years ago, we had some rats and cats running above our ceiling, a wooden one, making loud noises during the nights. I was scared to hear the noise they made as a child and did not dare to go upstairs to the balcony because I would have to pass it...

It was a squirrel! We got it out before we moved!

Squirrel? It is a beautiful and cute small animal I like. I hope the squirrel is living in the right place now.

It could be anything. Sometime because of the expansion and suspension some sounds come out and it could be some creeping creatures. But what you are thinking is not. Still it would be better to check it out once.

It could be some mice or it could be bats. I would call the exterminator. Good luck!

This time of year it could definitely be bats waking up, but it could also be mice or squirrels... just how big do the scratches sound? If you don't feel brave enough to tackel the vermin issue on your own.... definitely call an exterminator soon... many critters are having babies this time of year and you could easily end up with a rapidly reproducing population if you allow the problem to exist for too long.... GOOD LUCK and take care of it soon. That's my advice anyway! :-)

The first thing that comes to my mind is mice or rats. I had to deal with both of these in my apartment. I had to listen to this during the night hours as well.

I think it's time! LOL It could be bats that have nested up there. Could be a rat too maybe. I wouldn't be opening anything that leads to the house in case it would be bats they might fly into your house . I would call somone and make them do it! ROFL Good Luck.

I hope it isnt bats, but it could be, as my guy was outside the day before yesterday at night, and saw one fly by his head...so I guess that is possible.. There is no way to get to the roof except through the outside, so that is good, but yes for sure if that is what they are, I definitely need to call someone and fast! lol!

Hi stacyv81! Yes, there was a time that I heard scratching noises in our ceiling and it turned out that there was a family of stray cats living in our ceiling. We took them down and have the kitties adopted by willing neighbors and friends. I guess, we immediately knew that there were kittens because aside from the scratching we heard faint "meow" sounds. Take care and blessings to you dear! lovelots...faith
